Does anyone - apart from Hill-Wood and Wenger - think for one minute that while we are piss - balling about with Queensland Road development, investing £10 million here or there and waiting for £15 million to turn up in 2 or 3 years time, the rest of our Prem' rivals are going to stand still ?

The Glaziers raised £500 million in a bond issue in about 14 days. You can get a lot of Wayne Rooneys for a lot less than that.

Are Chelsea and Man City going to sit back and scratch their arses for the next three seasons watching Hill-Wood and Gazedis play monopoly ?

If Liverpool got taken over City style, they wouldn't hesitate to sale past us.

In the meantime Wenger continues to offer us a diet of Fabianski ("a Top-Top keeper"

 ) Almunia and these Candy-Floss, Balsa wood teen dreams, that he reckons are somehow going to morph into world beaters.

Let's just say some of us have our - well founded - doubts !

Like a few have said, if we keep this up then hopefully in 3 years time we'll be able to start competing for the big players without the need for foreign ownership but this all depends a lot on how much we trust the board! They may just be positioning themselves for a massive pay day when they sell up but if they really are acting in the best interests of the club and want to stick around for at least 10 years to start enjoying those porofitable times then this could be great news

The big BUT however is that these 3 years are crucial One year out of the top 4 and it could be curtains

Hopefully we can get away with spending £30 mill in the summer, sell of some real fringe players like Senderos et all for a total circa £5-10 mill and be ok

I also hope the constant referalls to new contracts means upping our wage structure so we can pay players liek Cesc £90k and get them to say

i didn't say that, i said i think we ARE getting better. i don't think cesc will leave in the summer (i know you disagree) and i think wenger will do another vermaelenesque signing, like he usually does in the summer, by the way. i think at least one of eduardo, bendtner or vela will find their form or at least chamakh will come good or maybe even RVP can make a whole season without injuries!!!

erm, ok, now i sounded stupid

anyway, i think we'll find our attacking ways again, i like our midfield, i'm sure clichy will improve his current form (he can't do any worse and we agree he has the quality) and if it is true that wenger tried to sign sorensen, i believe he'll go for a new keeper, and fuck me, that would make us 40% better.

i don't see why we won't improve. aaron ramsey will get better every fucking day just like song is improving now, and i'm sure a midfield of song, ramsey and cesc with arshavin, rosicky/nasri and one of the beforementioned strikers will be as good as any attack in this world.

i'm only worried about our keeper, about gallas and about a cover for song. i'm hoping wenger will address 2/3 of that in the summer.

he hasn't lost it completely. yet.

Oh goodie, now all we have to do is sell a player for £13mill and our property debt will be cleared.

Only in our club does investing in the squad mean signing Flappy and co. to a new LOOOOONG term contract  Atleast now we know Kolo and Greedy's potential wages and transfer money is going into keeping Denilson at the club and also help fund his testimonial :banghead:

[quote="Rob"]The Glaziers raised £500 million in a bond issue in about 14 days. You can get a lot of Wayne Rooneys for a lot less than that.

I would suggest trying to get an inkling of understanding before making wild uneducated statements like that in the future.

For your information the Bond issue was a debt swap i.e swapping terrible debt for bad debt. The bonds replaced £500m of debt. United do not have £500m to spend extra.

United are in an awful situation, one so bad that Pompey may not be the last team to go into administration. Chelsea and eventually Manchester City are running their wage to turnover ratio's away over the 50% limit that is due to come in to qualify for European qualification.

Also, when you have made huge profits via your property development smashing a 1/3rd off your debt in 6 months (in one of the worst property reductions in history), why on earth would you not look to replicate that in a recovering (all but slow) market.

To not,would be insane.

:?Not clued up on the money lark but on reading it sounds great news. The stadium and construction loans will be repaid years ahead of time and we have a LARGE transfer fund available but what does disturb me is the part of investing in the stadium etc part?it's a new stadium what more investment does it need other than making a proper home for the Arsenal or do there mean more property development??.

Granted now we have some insight to the finances but doesn't excuse wengers reluctance to strengthen the squad which is very much needed!!!
The talk of sustaining our current position so to clear the debt is going to need investment and i don't mean lucrative contracts to injury prone or average players but in players who will be able to keep us up there and possibly win a trophy maybe? The problem we might encounter is can we attract the quality players required?after years of just qualifying for C/L and not really being able to compete tainted our attraction to players?will the board release the necessary funds in the coming few yrs if our C/L spot came under threat-like buying Arshavin-from the man shitty or well the chance of clearing our debts become more appealing?

It's all IFS and BUTS but the board have to release that our rivals won't sit back and do nothing in the summer has there have seen manure and chavski drop in standards and will see next season as a chance to get in the C/L gold mine. This season has been weird and it's papered over the cracks in our squad but it has given hope to the chasing pack so some large investment in the summer would be good.Fair play to the board for knocking a large chunk of the debt. Here to things to come...(hopefully)

This is how to run a football club. We didn't buy a cup and go into administration like Pompey, we don't run the club at a loss for their sugar-daddy, like Chelsea and City, and they haven't had an American buyer come along and borrow heavily to buy the club and struggle to pay off the interest like Liverpool & Man U.

Never mind the next decade, Arsenal are set-up for as long as the Emirates will stand. This was £35m in SIX months while paying off debt.
