Hleb the new Bestie? Let’s hope he stays off drink! (15/11)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Hleb the new Bestie? Let’s hope he stays off drink! (15/11)

Usual thread starter… Hleb is a different player from the first six months of 2007. Okay, there’s not much point in him going into shoulder barges with anyone, but his work on the ball this campaign has been majestic. I have actually come to think that he is as integral to Arsenal’s ability to win matches as Cesc. Am I over-rating him?

hleb is very important to arsenal with the way he has started the season,, we all knew he was a great player but this season he has come on leaps and bounds and has started to score goals. which was never his strong point

for me he's arsenals player of the season so far,, even above cesc

Hleb has become an extremely important member of the team and, as someone who doubted him early on, have happily had to eat a large slice of humble pie over this one!

to all those pricks including stevie g, so arsenal have had not injuries Lemman, gallas, cliche, eboue, diaby, gilberto, wallcott, ady, rvp, kolo, sagna, senderos, all these have been missing for a period with injuries because the replacements done well nobody noticed, but we did not gripe or moan we just got on with winning matches, let the mugs keep writing us off i love it.

I'm not sure if you guys heard the same commentary but one of the commentators from our coverage made a good point when Hleb scored. He wondered if he'd do the same thing if it was a 0-0 game. I guess we'll never know.

TALK ABOUT MIS-LEADING HEADLINE!! :? ALTHOUGH I WOULD HAVE READ IT ANYWAY, THE ARTICLE WAS MORE A MATCH REPORT THAN A COMPARISON OF HLEB AND GEORGE BEST - WHICH THE STRAP LINE WAS INDICATING THE ARTICLE TO BE ABOUT. SO WHY NOT LABEL IT AS SUCH?

IN FACT, THERE WAS EXACTLY ONE SENTENCE INVOLVING THE NAMES HLEB AND BEST, AND IT BASICALLY REPEATED WHAT THE HEADLINE SAID.

IT'S PROBABLY GOOD PRACTISE FOR BEING A TABLOID WRITER OR CONTRIBUTOR TO NEWSNOW - WHERE HITS ARE EVERYTHING - BUT HARDLY UP TO THE USUAL INTEGRITY DISPLAYED BY THE GOONER.

I LOVE HIM, OF COURSE!! 8)   HAS ANYONE EVER DOUBTED THAT FACT?

JUST AS A FOLLOW UP TO MY PREVIOUS POST - AND IN CASE TONY SAUNDERS TAKES IT AS A DIG AT HIM - MY CRITICISM ISN'T OF THE ARTICLE ITSELF, BUT OF THE MISLEADING HEADING GIVEN TO IT.

At last the man has started having a go from outside the six-yard box instead of thinking it’s a long way out and passing to someone else. And his passing is totally different in that he now realises his team-mates are the ones wearing the same colour shirt. I thought he was a Championship player in his first two seasons, not, crap, but not good enough for us. Stick him in the Coventry team and he‘d be one of their best players. Now he's something else. Fab’s getting the goals - from midfield - Toure is our best in the four at the back , but Hleb is our third best player so far this season behind those two. Play him from the start in every game.

Now I’m just hoping that Bill Gallas and Tom Rosicky can stop being part-timers and get out of the sick room and start playing a bit. Bill’s having a go and I hope he doesn’t get another fingernail injury soon or whatever it is that keeps him out for months, but Tom keeps getting these ***** injuries or groin strains so all I can say is give it up mate, it‘s ruining your job.

This article just goes to show how fickle supporters are. At the end of last season Helb was getting dogs abuse, now he is the best thing since sliced bread.George Best was the best British player ever so dont even try to compare Helb to him.Next there will be an article titled "Is Helb the greatest Arsenal player ever" Do me a favour

I don't see anyone claiming this on this thread. Just that he's having a good season. or do you disagree with that? and I'm not sure about Best being the best British player ,either.
