Possible excuse for England failure that doesn't involve us

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The sooner us English accept the fact that we are the t***inghamshite of world football and respond to it the better. We really are no match for Germany, Brazil, Italy etc or any other nation that has technically sound players and a coach with some tactical savvy. No amount of blaming Arsenal will make anything better for the English national side. We aspire to excellence, employing the best coach/manager and he in turn tries to employ the best players he can find from wherever they are to do their best for the club. When he's quoted 25/30 million for a half decent player just because he's English who in their right mind can blame him for looking elsewhere for players who're just as good, if not better and can be recruited for, in a lot of circumstances, well under 10 million? It would'nt bother me in the slightest if international football was scrapped altogether, roll on next weekend and getting back to the real stuff. A win against Wigan next week would give me far greater pleasure than England qualifying for the euros. Don't get me wrong, I do want England to win but it's Arsenal first always and I'll never aplogise to anyone for that. :D

Stearmaster, rebel picked you up on this already, but just so you're clear: Great Britan is England, Scotland and Wales; the United Kingdom is England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland; and the Republic of Ireland/Eire (for whom Roy Keane, Robbie Keane, Ian Harte and Shay Given all play/played) is a separate country.

Geography not a strong suit at your school??

Won't solve the youth system problem. For the Olympics, I would love it but for the Euro's and the world cup, each country should represent itself

To be honest I was thinking more retrospectively than a plan for the future.

Would a UK side have had a better chance of winning past World Cups.

At present were all shit.

As the gaffer would say "I feel that technically Croatia were better than us during the game." Having not won a trophy for 41 years and the likes of Brazil, Italy, France, Holland etc chipping in with a few each perhaps t these teams produce "technically" better players than we do on our shores?
