Here is video of what this same Thug Shawcross did to Adebayor in 2008 - a stamp on the standing ankle, from behind, going away from goal and off the field even:
http://www.twitvid.com/3BCE0
Such tackles to a standing leg are leg breakers. Yet some dare call that "professional" - yeah. Professional thuggery. Did you see any tears or even an apology to Adebayor? Nope. He sauntered away looking proud of himself. He is a thug who this time was frightened that he got caught out in the spot light - and afraid of the consequences.
In this same game, Shawcross has already previously done the same reckless type of tackle on Nasri, but Nasri jumped out.
Spare me any more BS about this cowardly loser. I cant even call him a man. He is just a sorry #$% coward.

I don't even see the shawcross foul as a tackle
he's not trying to win the ball, hes trying to clear it
he wants to smash it in rowZ in an intimidatory fashion
I'm sure he doesnt want to get the man (slightly diff timing with that kind of wild swipe and he could break his own leg) but he's risking the opponents health prob even more than he's risking his own

What happened to Ramsey was a sickener and i'm gutted for him, but it happens, as i know to my own cost having had a tib fib fracture end my own footballing dreams, but it's part of football, part of any physical sport and anyone playing the game especially at the highest level should accept that every time they go in to a full blooded tackle there is always a risk they or their opponent may get hurt...
When i saw Diaby's and Eduardos breaks they both angered me because they were both malicious tackles, Diabys in particular, but this one was not the same, it was unfortunate, nothing more..
Beyond all that, reading some of the stuff on this thread and a general attitude that appears to be growing among some of our fans, we are in danger of turning into victim fc...it's bad enough our manager has instilled this 'poor us' attitude into the team over the last few years to cover up for his own deficiencies, but now too many of our fans are going the same way..everything is a conspiracy, everything is against us, the refs, the pitches, the weather, the commentators, the fixture list, injuries, the F.A, UEFA, long throws, short throws, high balls, long balls, chocolate ice cream, roland rat the list never f*ckin stops and it's been the same for the last few years..
I love the way we play football under Wenger but i'm getting sick of this expectation that the oppopsition are just supposed to sit back in awe and let us beat them..it's unfortunate and i'm sure it annoys a few people but it's within other teams rights to exploit our weaknesses and if one of them happens to be that we are deemed not to be up for a physical battle then it's only to be expected lesser teams are going to try and exploit that, as some of our teams of the not too distant past did, and i was only too happy to watch them do it, i'm not going to be a hypocrite now and get upset because lesser opposition use the same tactics on us...

A point I think no one's raised (and which I think is part of all this) is that we have made a rod for our own back here.
We gained a reputation a few years ago for being a "soft" team and that has repercussions.
And it has not been our physical toughness that opponents have targeted, but our mental toughness.
Gallas' tantram at St Andrews was the worst thing we could have shown opposing teams.
It said we knew we were really weak, even though at the time teams were intimidated by us.
We all know what it's like to line up against a team of giants or super-skilled players and think "uh, oh, we're in trouble here".
But that aura disappears quickly when you feel you might be getting on top of them mentally.
That Stoke match was the first time I'd seen real mental toughness in Arsenal for some years.
I only hope it's the real deal and a sign we're growing up (I'd hate to have seen what happened if we weren't awarded that penalty...).
I don't believe there was malicious intent in the Ramsey tackle. Everyone goes in hard playing football (professional or not) and I've certainly seen a few legs broken in my playing days here in NZ.
Get well soon, Aaron.

I agree with what IU4GN and Spuddy say, though i see some merit in what Percy is saying.
The problem is not this foul/tackle in isolation but a whole mentality surrounding Arsenal and the media. Its the hypocrisy I can't stand and the defending of Shawcross first and foremost above Ramsey.
Even in that clip of Greedycunt, the commentator says 'Shawcross, no respecter of big reputations'. What the fuck does that mean? That it's ok because he's more famous/skillful? There's no way they'd say that if it was Cesc on Rooney.
Same as Eduardo's dive and Cesc's spitting - the media never comes down on our side and everyone reverts to the whinging wenger argument. After saturday's game, Wenger even says 'it wasn't a dirty game but i don't accept its another coincidence' while Pulis comes off like a raving loony going on about what a good family Shawcross has and how Wenger doesn't know his players and Arsene's the one painted as irrational.
And then look at the furore when Gallas made that foul against Bolton (where he touched the ball first) despite us being kicked about and denied 3 penalties over the two games. The imbalance is so great its laughable.

The problem is BT, Wenger has cried wolf far too often that's why it's hard for others to take him seriously, he complains about absolutley everything. I remember very few occasions when things haven't gone well for him when he didn't have some excuse or bitchy remark about the other teams tactics or style of play, the refs decisions or some other inane excuse, it's just constant, he just sounds like a spoilt brat who expects everyone to do what he wants them to do.
If he took responsibility for his own mistakes or his own players mistakes instead of always looking to blame someone else or something else then maybe all those who are 'persecuting' us/him might take more notice when he actually comes up with a valid point..

I have to disagree with you on this Percy,i think it's time for reaction for fouls like this as there continue to be over looked and allowed to go on.
Hopefully Rambo will recover to play again but if nothing is done to stop OTT tackles then it might result in something worse. The tackle on greedywhore by shawcross last year reminded me of the tackle that other talentless twat Vinnie Jones did on Gary Stevens which was a carbon copy tackle and stevens didn't play again after that and nothing was done then.(i might be wrong)
Funny how when shawcross broke jeffers leg the media savaged shawcross so why the different reaction for Ramsey's incident. Both were born out of frustration, both when the ball was out of reach, both against better players, even the incidents might have been different the scenarios are the same. There is a need for re-education for contributors of the game otherwise we continue to see this type of ''tackle'' and the greater the possibility of a career ruined while the perpetrator will still reap the benefits. This not a reaction because it happened to Rambo, it's happened to other players like R.keane on the Leeds player is 1 example.
The media have to re-educate itself also(fat chance) as there seem to delight in the way ''good old fashioned'' football is played but don't see the consequences of the results but love to promote a out dated style coz it happens regularly against johnny foreigner but don the other cap if committed against a homegrown player especially one of there fav's.Promotion by the media and permitting of the style by ref's has probably prevented home grown skillful players and in cases already skillful, talented players lose there confidence like reyes after the neville scum attention and not produce the same again and so fade away and deemed a failure which otherwise could have had glittering careers.
Cases like these are frequently happening now and it's not to do with training methods or diet but having to put up with the likes of talentless, outdated managers like Pulis who bleat and whine and pull out the ''small club'' card to cover there inability to change or lack of tactical talent, long throw as a main attacking weapon christ 1970's or what.Clubs which fill there squad with limited talent but advocate a style which spoils and harms the game. It's time the FA grew a backbone and started to do something about it not just for our players but others also.

I'm not just defending Shawcross here but let's have a bit of perspective here... I'm sorry mate, but that is not a "stamp". He has slid in and made contact with Greedywhore and gone through the back of him, yes. But it is not a stamp. I've seen worse in kids games. I've seen our players do worse, too.

The likes of Stoke, Blackburn, Bolton etc are thuggish sides masquerading as football clubs.
Real football clubs do not state before a game they intend to "Bully" and "Get stuck in" to the opposition. Stoke, Blackburn and a handful of other PL clubs are full of players like Nicky Hunt whom fracture the skulls of great players like Petr Cech.
They're thugs and cowards.
A poisonous mix of jingoism along with the fact that the so called football intelligentsia in the UK are riddled with men whom played in the gladiator era of the 70's and 80's creates a sicking atmosphere that justifies thuggery and barbarity.
The point is an obvious one mate, sadly certain sides play football whilst the likes of Stoke, Blackburn, Bolton etc employ a mix of MMA & Rugby.
When your philosophy is to kick the shit out of the opposition...than why pretend you're sorry when you cripple players???
BTW on Shawcross this is the third tme since 2007 he has seriously injured a player i.e Jeffers, Ade and now Ramsey, Suffice to say that is the definition of a thug...."Not that type of player"...GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!

I saw this comment on one of the Guardian articles. This sums up my feelings perfectly (not my own words btw) :
OK, having waited the entire weekend for a thread, it looks like we'll have to use this one.
No malice in the tackle? No, not the malice of a player who intends to break an opponent's leg, but definitely the malice of one who, egged on by his manager, the pundits and fans, is happy to risk it.
This sort of malice is endemic to English football, but it is veiled in euphemisms so you don't have to notice it's there. It's OK to 'get physical' with Arsenal (euphemism for kick them) because, 'if you let them play they'll walk all over you' (euphemism for win by means of superior skill). In fact kicking Arsenal - indeed any side with skilful foreign players - is more than OK; it's a positive virtue since it ensures the Birmingham's, the Blackburns and the Stokes can continue to thrive. Imagine if they were penalised for dangerous and incompetent tackles, imagine if they had to rely on foreign eccentricities like scoring from open play: they'd be relegated, God forbid, and the quintessential Englishness of the Premier League would be lost.
'Get in their faces! It's a man's game! They don't like it up 'em, the wimpish foreigners who play tippy-tappy pretty football and dive their way to success!' No malice? Look at the language. 'Pretty' equates Arsenal with women or possibly gays (bad things to be); diving is something the honest English don't do. It's language that oozes with hatred - a hatred that's a close relative of the xenophobia and homophobia, which are pervasive in English football as well. Truth is, the English don't value what they quaintly refer to as 'technical' skill. Craft, creativity? They're an incitement to violence. It's the non-technical skills, the up-for-it, incompetent challenges that shatter leg bones - but only every now and again, stop whining you wimps! - that are fondly regarded in England.
Sky didn't show the tackle lest its precious viewers sick up their burgers. Shame the Arsenal players can't be similarly spared the unpleasant sight of splintered bones protruding through the skin. Shame that three times in four years they've have had to see a team-mate's foot virtually severed from his ankle, so that the Premiership's brave, gritty underdogs can continue to pick up the points. Shame that Diaby and Eduardo were out for over a year and still haven't recovered their former fitness and skill. Shame for young Aaron Ramsey, but never mind, as Stan Collymore assures us, he'll come back better and stronger. Really, Shawcross, a gentle giant - just look at his tears! - has almost done him a favour. Yes, the tears, the piteous suffering of the unfortunate defender - that's what we are shown; not the pain, the blood, the confidence destroyed, the ruined career, the years lost from the game.
So happily there's nothing amiss and it can be business as usual - till the next time Alan Green needs to tell us there was no malice intended because the defender 'isn't that sort of player' and the victim, 'who was a bit quick for him', has really no one to blame but himself. An unfortunate accident, just one of those things. Well, three actually on Arsenal players alone, but who's counting. Not the media, that's for sure. Nor the fans who rejoiced to see the whining Wenger and his diving foreigners getting their just desserts yet again.
'Cheating, cheating Arsenal,' the Stoke fans sang when Ramsey was carried to the ambulance, 'You've only got one leg!' No, no malice at all.

the shawcross adebayor foul is not a stamp but it is a bad foul
not cops he goes through from behind (we've all seen that before but when it's leightweight kids the example somebody gives it's way less likely to cause injury)
the rrewason its so bad is that he cant even pretend hes going for the ball
its clearly well out of play
augie - we're right in the league title fight with ten games to go
still have a decent chance of going though in the CL
and you think the manager 'has run his course' what a bizarre statement??
there will be money to spend in the summer precisely because Wenger has been out spent by all the other top half dozen or so teams
what does 'run his course' mean?
that it's impossible we win something
that it's impossible we sign the players many fans think we require...?
unbelievable negativity
also I thought gallas tantrum at st andrews was directed toward clichy for his slackness rather than brum for the foul
