It's very easy to say Arsene must buy big names in the summer, but what happens if he does. If for example he signs Fernando Torres, what will happen. Torres will expect to play every game, like Henry. Fine you might say. Granted, Aliadiere and Baptiste could leave and we could then have Adebayor and Van Persie as second choice, but I believe that Van Persie could be one of our best ever players if he can stay fit and I don't want him getting fed up being out of the team and then wanting to leave. The same could be said right through out the team. The talent is undoubtably there in abundance, Denilson, Walcott, Djourou, Song, Diarby all have to be given their chance and there are more behind them in the likes of Fran Merida, Jay Simpson, Nicklas Bendtner, Kerrea Gilbert, Carlos Vela to mention just a few. If as you say we buy big names then these players will be expected to play and the youngster, like Bentley, Pennant, Larsson before them will all want to leave.
It's a tough decision for Arsene to make. He knows we all want to see the team winning trophies. But he must also be aware of the talent that he has amassed just waiting to burst through.
Yes I agree we do need to make some changes for next season, Lehmann, Ljungberg, Aliadiere and Baptiste should be moved on, but apart from a world class keeper to replace Lehmann I think Arsene should concentrate on what he does best finding young talent which he can nurture and turn into world class players like Fabregas.
One last thought if we are going to make a major signing then it should be on the medical staff. I cannot understand why our injuries take longer to heal than any other teams. When Gallas was injured we were originally told it would be 3 weeks. It turned out to be 3 months. We have had so many long term injuries this year whereas other teams seem to be able to get their players fit quicker. Didn't Scoles or someone break a leg or something but was then playing again a few weeks later.
