ONE ARSENE WENGER

ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER

THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER

Bottom line for the most part a top club run by quality people, most of us tend to forget that at times.

Dont think anybody really calls him a *word censored* but make no mistake if he genuinely thinks that this team is good enough or that this project is working or that almunia is good enough then he is absolutely senile and a fool. Why is it so hard for some people to comprehend that managers, like players, have a shelf life and after a few years become stale and cant see the wood from the tree's ?

Listen, that story about helping the people of chernobyl is very touching and I agree 100% with that but lest we forget we are meant to be, first and foremost, a FOOTBALL CLUB :x I get so pissed off with all these non playing acolades like this, the great set of accounts, stadium design awards and best playing surface cos that isnt what over 100,000 fans pay membership for every bloody season. To hold people that run the club up as hero's on the back of stories like this is frankly embarrassing cos as we keep saying this is a football club and, while financial balance to a degree is required, at the end of the day winning trophies is meant to be our goal.

Shouldnt need to also remind people that patting yourself on the back for financial prudence is a bit hypocritical when you are paying unproven kids £60,000+ a week. It is much the same as wenger bullshit about integrity when honouring contracts when less than a year ago he said that he had meant real madrid officials about their vacant managers job  Really and truely there are some first class gullible fans out there who believe everything wenger and the club tell them and never ask questions - wenger and the board are proud of them  :banghead:

Well it seems you don't agree with a word of it nor do you really care about the message iof the article.

Indeed that is your prerogative but be upfront about it rather than giving it some BS back handed compliment yet than than go on a rant about how the club is basically run by greedy SOB's.

Hardly gullible to state for the most part the club is run by quality people.

It's funny but when you get fed nothing but bullshit from the club and wenger then you are inclined to throw bullshit back

Can I ask you to engage your brain cells for just a minute or so and you can tell me how this scenario works out in your head - Club makes off field profits every season and these profits are continually boosted by transfer sales. Instead of investing some of these profits to increase/improve the quality of the squad our board and manager hold the bulk of the money back and instead use it to wipe off more off the club debt. New account figures released show over £100m knocked off the club debt in last 6 months which of course translates into a much better set of club accounts and balance sheets. Now, and pay attention here cos this is the important part, with the better club accounts the club looks a more attractive proposition for investors thus rising the share prices which of course would suit anybody in the board willing to sell shares - in other words every last one of the *word censored* bar kroenke. Dont tell me that these people are not self serving arseholes cos every last one of them is a *word censored* that should be removed from our boardroom asap. If by any chance you still dont follow any of this then you can write to danny the tax exile in geneva and I'm sure he will explain it to you

Yes it is financially prudent to be paying these players decent wages.

One of 3 things can happen with the young players we produce or buy:

1. They can go on to be great players at the club and we get to enjoy watching them and hopefully seeing them win titles. They then may move on for a massive transfer fee.

2. They play a few games for the club, but are deemed surplus to requirements and they move on for a decent transfer fee. Here I would use Denilson as an example. You and every other person on this board may think he's shit, but do you really think he would cost less than £5million?

3. They turn out to be completely useless, never play and are flat out released.

Now most of these youngsters are brought in for a nominal fee or are free. So if one of the players in the first bracket I mentioned gets sold for £40 million pounds (as you are all expecting to happen) that has re-couped enough money for the majority of these players wages for 2-3 years. The same with selling on the second tier of players. If we sell people like Muamba, Stokes, Sidwell, that pays for a good chunk of new young players. In the final bracket, the money made on the other 2 groups should negate any losses. Theres a small chance this won't happen, but the word prudence does not mean you are 100% secure against losses, as I'm sure you know.

So yes. This is prudent and people who think it is are not gullible. They obviously just understand business alot better than you do. So rather than making us gullible, what does that make you?

Vlad funnily enough I dont think denilson is shit but this season he has regressed to the point that he needs to prove himself to be good enough all over again or else move on to a league that might be more suited to him (la liga for example)

Anyway your 3 point plan on offering these unproven kids big wages omits one crucial factor......if they turn out to not be good enough then who will buy them considering they are on big wages and will they be prepared to leave and take a big cut in wages ? In an ideal world players should want to play as their priority but lets face it in this current enviroment money is a huge factor for these players. :(

Secondly, if these players are no good and you suggested flat out releasing them then wont we have to pay them out massive money ? You give any player a long term contract on big money wages then you are legally obliged to pay up the remainder of their contract should you decide to dispense with their services

Lastly, and probably the most crucial point, where in your policy do we see continual progress ? I mean your plan seems to entail buying young players cheap, giving them big contracts so that we may sell them for big money which in turn we will then give more big wages to more young players which we will also sell......I see a roundabout where we continue to go in circles but no possible means of progress. I see a club continually having to rebuild when selling their players. I see a small club that survives by breeding and selling their players to stay alive. I see a selling club. I see crewe alexandria. What I dont see is a european superclub that attracts top players instead of selling their best players

even if he his past his shelf life he doesnt deserve those comments, especially from our own fans. just because he has belief that certain players will come good is no reason to insult the man as many on here do so often. 3 seasons ago everyone thought song was absolute shit, telling wenger that he was stupid in persisting with song. in january people were begging for cameroon to get knocked out so song could come back. this is why i dont call for wenger getting sacked, because im not arrogant enough to think i know better than him about the players that he sees everyday. so who knows what might happen to say fabianski or vela in 3 seasons, maybe a complete change over like songs.

Jeeez! We agree on something (Denilson), who would have thought it?

I see your point regarding the massive wages and players not wanting to leave, but the players on the better contracts are in and around the first team. A player not quite good enough for us, would be one of the better players at teams outside the top 4 and these teams would be willing to pay them good wages. So if we wanted to get rid of them, I'm sure that it wouldn't be too difficult and hasn't proved so in the past. Hopefully, the player would also want first team fotball (I'm a romantic) and would be willing to take a slight drop in wage if necessary.

On your other point. I'm not an idiot (despite what you might think  ). I was referring to releasing them at the end of thier contract. Players like Denilson proved themselves worthy of getting a longer term contract, but initially were on a shorter one. Players like Sunu will probably just be released as he is not deemed good enough.

As for becoming Crewe, I was only talking about the young players in my post. I wasn't advocating going solely down this route. I was just referencing the sustainability of the youth system. I fully advocate going out and buying 6-7 players in the summer, but that doesn't mean the youth system isn't a successful and important part of the club.

FYI mate one does not start a debate insulting the people he disagrees with. Easier to make your point and allow people to make up their own minds but too each his own

Listen if it were simply a matter of profit the club could have easily imposed dividends which they have not.

Overly cautious transfer policy I would definitely agree with that, also a real lack of transparency i.e claiming the debt of the stadium will not affect any forays into the transfer market IMO was and still remains quite a poor decision PR wise.

Really no right or wrong answer on this issue, each person is entitled to their point of view. Gooners whom are pissed the club has not spent more to ensure silverware are within their rights to challenge the club as to why we have been extremely frugal over the last 5+ seasons.

On the other hand Gooners whom feel the clubs policy to pay off the debt ASAP whilst still competing with the financial doped clubs i.e Chelsea and against clubs whom have imposed insane polices i.e Man Utd is in the long run in the best interests of the club are not gullible mugs and are well within their rights to accept such policy.

For the last two years some on here (me included) have warned that the prudent approach to accounting has very little to do with protecting the club's future but is more designed to keep the club asset strong while paying off the debts as quickly as possible. This would create an optimum environment to cash in on shares.

Those who argued against this theory pointed to the lockdown agreement and observed the board have no inclination to sell. Now with silent Stan holding 30% of our club I think that argument is weak.

What are Stan's intentions? Does he have the money to buy the club or will be it be funded a la Glazier. While Kroenke remains silent then those who are haughty towards manure finances need to be careful. There is a chance we have been and are being conned on a grand scale. The only beneficiaries of the prudence are/may always be the current shareholders who become mega-rich and a new investor. And of course an underachieving squad whose wages go up 17 million despite losing 7million a year on Toure and Ade.

As I have said before, I am not a shareholder so I don't give a rats' arse about returns. That is not to invite a Pompey or Leeds turrett like response from a rosetinter. Those ill fated clubs are examples of nigh on corrupt financial mismanagement. 90% of clubs are run well enough with a reasonable ratio between turnover/investment. Our ratio is woeful. IHH did a chart recently showing our lack of investment considering consistent CL revenue.

I hope we are not being conned and we get to enjoy some of the fruits of the prudence. Don't be so sure though.

Not a brilliant article but may be of interest to those who were debating this thread this week:

Hopefully it will show that there is a method to our madness.

Not sure how that backs up our way of doing this :? Uefa are going to allow rich sugar daddy's and I dont see anything in that that is beneificial to us at all as it will now allow the clubs that were under threat of expulsion from champs lge (chav's, scousers, citeeh etc) to continue to participate
