Stop with the "ENOUGH NOW" bollox.....TheOne2Smooth wrote:ok enough now!
This is lively debate, don't tell me (all you gooners hiding on the sidelines)
don't love following this argument...?
THIS IS FREEDOM OF SPEECH. -Long may it reign!!!
CUS, I got nothing against you man (except yr politics!).
Lets kiss and make up (that includes GCiaL).
Lets not use the word Y*D in a derogatory manner('cept when we're in the privacy of our own homes), or, when, (GOD FORBID) Sp*rs are beating us in a local derby at Ash Grove.
Lets stop fighting now and let the light of love shine on

What kind of c***s are these w******. There not real funking fans. How dear they sue there own club. You got a problem with it join the funking Kid Army. If you are an Arsenal fan, not to mention a season ticket holder you should know a lot about your club. Now I realize that everyone has a right to their own beliefs but as an Arsenal fan you should realize that the hatred between Arsenal and Tottenham. Now IMO these fools are in it for the money no more so then the Christian. I am a Christian and I say funk the y**s. Now if they are not Tottenham fans they are bitches or money wanting thiefs. This really does frustrate me. I never thought a Gooner would ever have a problem with laughing at the y**s

I had a few problems connecting to the site, so i couldn't post in the last couple of days.
We actually celebrate two new years celebrations, one in the first day of january and one the first day of Tishrei (The first moth of the jewish calender), which is celebrated in mid september. The Jewish holiday is more of a family holiday and the christian one is for getting out and enjoy yourself.
After reading this whole thread (i'm not that good in english, so it was tiring), i'm still trying to understand the following:
If one knows (which i'm sure 80% of the people here know) that the word "****" was used in past decades as an anti-semic (in hebrew you pronounce it anti-shemi) exclamation, how can he keep using it in a moral or in a legal way?
The fact that sp*rs fans adopted this word as their nickname was because they wanted to take the sting out of it, but for me, it is still an anti-semic statement nonetheless (of course it is not as bad as hitler chants, but still).
It is new year's celebration, but i didn't know that's the french word for it, we call the christian new year's eve, Silvester.I imagine silvester is New Year's celebration (DanielD?)

Daniel I agree this post is tiring!
If the word offends you I can understand that but I just want people to understand that it is not being used in a religious or racial way. As pointed out on both sides of the arguement not all Spud supporters are Jewish and we certainly not singling out the ones that are when we chant at them.
From what I have looke up on the web the word never started as anti-semitic but unfortunately as many other words it was seized upon by a very small number of lifes scumbags. Lets be clear though that the vast majority of Gooners are not in this knuckle dragging group and use the word in a very different context.......the nickname of our jealous numpty rivals up the road. God there are times when I would have loved to punch a Spud fan in the past, in fact even Spud players but it never crossed my mind to torch a synagogue instead.
I am truely sorry if this word causes you, an Arsenal supporter offence! Please though try and look at the word in the context it is used at Ashburton. When I call Cashley a poof I do not mean anything derogatory to our bottom loving friends....it is simply a bit of fun! If the over-riding feeling though is the fun is not acceptable then ok it must stop. Howver I am still of the opinion that the stopping of the name must first happen inside the Spuds own camp! If this is such an emotive subject that needs to be sorted you must cure the problem at the root cause
Anyhow in summary.......I have never meant to cause offence to anyone Jewish or not by calling them a ****. There are far beter words if I want to offend someone.
That is enough now from me. I am open to change and the day I truely feel I am doing something wrong or offensive I will do.

Totally agree with you Gus and couldnt put it better myself. I would have thought that everyone out there knew that when we gooners use that phrase it is in no way intended as a racial slur and we will happily cease to use the y*d phrase once our "neighbours" stop referring to themselves as the y*d army.

Doesn't matter if we don't mean it as a racial slur augie mate, doesn't matter what the sp**s do..only matters if the word ****, which has been used for jews to say "you're beneath us", has an effect on a jewish Arsenal fan. How do we know how they feel? You cannot know how they feel. In the same way they cannot understand you as an Irishman.augie wrote:Totally agree with you Gus and couldnt put it better myself. My Mum's family was abused by British soldiers in Northern Ireland with guns and filthy language and it can only mean something to those who are on the receiving end.
It doesn't matter what we think.

When we all stop using the words bastard, poofter and retard then let us stop using the word **** at the same time.
I am sorry but we are all prone to using the above words in a jovial manner but for different reasons they can be equally offensive to different people.
Live and let live I say.......it is a word said in jest and should be taken in the same way!
When the world is so sterile that we cannot have a bit of light hearted name calling and mickey taking then I hope I am six foot under!
Sorry but I will not be persuaded otherwise.

The difference is Gus mate, **** is racist and those other words are not. Simple. That is the point. Seriously, if you don't get it by now, then I'm going to have to let Cus loose on you againgus ceasar is a legend wrote:When we all stop using the words bastard, poofter and retard then let us stop using the word **** at the same time.

Is racism though any worse than abusing another persons sexuality or parentage? Neither of those things do we have a choice about in life so to taunt them on it could almost be seen as more vulgar!
Please don't let him loose on me again.......he uses al lot of big words that scare me and ridicules my typing errors!
Maybe this topic is to big for a mere football forum?
