Doesn't seem to have been mentioned here but how ludicrous were our bookings again when they got away with much more? I haven't seen what Vermaelan's was for...was it disent?
Bendtner's wasnt bad at all and should have been given the benefit of the doubt as the striker who was trying to retain possession. He also got a foul against him later for a bit of shoulder barging
Do all bookings now count towards suspension or do they get wiped?
augie wrote:By the way was anybody else impressed by their striker falcao ? Hadnt really seen much of him before these games but have to say that he impressed me a lot last night in his workrate, strength and his movement and powerful shooting One of the things I like about these games is that it does give us a chance to look at players like this with a view to potential signings cos wenger doesnt shop locally
He was the only real threat considering Hulk was massively lacking in match practice.

and there is also the fact that Hulk = Julio Baptista
and yeah, i know falcao for a lot of time, augie. he is a brilliant striker

Trip from behind I thought. Had he not got booked, would have picked one up later for repeated fouling
Bendtner's looked worse then it was but I have no real complaint about the booking. Shouldn't have gone in like that anyway
I agree with augie about the subs, not so much about Diaby and Song. What I will say about Song was he forgot to defend sometimes, particularly in the first half he would charge forward and leave us with just two cb's back.

Ive been a bit confused by some of the reports about sol's performance; admitedly there were a few what do you think your doing moments, but particularly in the first half he pretty much had Falcao in his pocket, and he talked to the other defenders all night as well, which is nice to see. Dont reckon he'll be able to do that week in week out though.
Lets build up on this success whilst taking up Tot’.. somethin wihin me tells me after last nights victory, we migte b the only english team remaining in d CL…. dunno, but something just tells me so..:):)
congrats on the victory, a strong message is being sent but i hope other clubs dont regard it… it suits us like that…
Both Song and Diaby were outstanding last night, with both of them covering each other's back, it made the team look very balanced and resilient. Especially pleased for Super Nick and Sol. Nick is 21 years old guys, he could end up being more prolific then ade was in his last season, and Sol despite the very small positional errors must've been pleased to play at the Grove in Red and White. He made some crucial interceptions and we sang his name last night. Pleased with the way Arshavin and Rosicky tracked back last night, love the fact for once we took our chances and happy that the Grove was a courus of song all night long. Every single player deserves recognition last night, Clichy look as if he is getting back to his best, Sagna looked defensively more stable, even the capitano, the much maligned Almunia did exactly what was needed punching the ball and collecting the crosses, they had many corners but (apart from one) we dominated those set pieces. The Verm (how good a signing was that) has removed that little nerves I used to get when the opposing teams attacks, but special special praise goes to Nasri, as superb free role display capped by a wonderful goal and wasn't it funny watching Eboue running at Porto. Is there anyone out there who still does not have the faith??
Re the question mono asked on the locked bedtner thread my opinion, for what it is worth, is that Bedtner def did better and deserved his 3 goals last night. The truth is neither last saturday nor last night gives an accurate assesment of the guy - he is not as bad as those misses last saturday suggest but nor is he going to be a prolific striker at least not in the truest 20-25 league goals a season type of guy
he can still get better and with cesc, arsh, nasri behind u 20 goalsa season is far from impossible
he's hardly played and could still get 15 this season
