What differance does it make?

Coming over all Smiths today for some reason. I am thinking about the nice position we find ourselves in today and lets face it theres been times this season when it looked unlikely. Even so we have been here a few times over the last 5 years only for it to fall around our ears in a short time. So whats differant this time or we just shooting in the breeze?

Vermaelen,Nasri and Song are big pluses.

Almunia,Bendtner and Walcott are big minuses.

I would say mainly attitude and togetherness (coming over all Wenger).

I think getting rid of Ade and Toure has helped bond and focus the team. They seem to be playing together. The turn around against Stoke, the response of Walcott and Bendtner to their critics...just a maturity and lack of bad influences i guess. The crowd too, seems more encouraging rather than impatient.

That's not to say there still aren't faults. The squad is still threadbare (and the goalkeeper

) but I think the pressure is off and that's why we might sneak something.

(outsider's view)

Arsenal are maturing and are used to linking up with each other now. You are a striker, defensive midfielder and goalkeeper away from becoming a one of the best teams around IMO.

Also, the 4-3-3 formation seems to be working for you. Arsenal are far too open when they have played 4-4-2 in the past.

All my opinion of course.

Mono, maybe not the best around but just believing that they belong and can live at the top level is enough. Galvanising this squad could be a masterstroke, with no real big ego's to deal with the pressure only comes from outside the team. 1 game at a time boys.....

This team with Sorensen and Chamakh wouldnt be that far away would it. Plus a young centre half so we didnt have to rely on Tweety and Creaky. Poor Sol wasnt great last night was he.

Chamakh is going to be such a signing, the guy is class. I've seen him play quite a few times over the last few seasons, he's got everything to be an Arsenal great.

I dont think we should be too harsh on the so called minuses.

Bendtners record has been relatively good this season considering he has been out injured. Granted he is not a world class striker but he is young. Henry did not come into his own until mid 20s!!!! I am not saying he is going to be Henry's standards but come on cut the lad some slack!! I bet you were up on your seat cheering him on yesterday.

I think the team show a tremendous amount of togetherness. I don't know about you guys but even the huddle sends shivers down my spine! The fact that Eboue after every game goes and throws his top into the crowd.

I dont want to sound to similar to a Spurs supporter but there is something about this year. We have never been the favourites and we have always been odds on the drop out of the top 4.

Never the less I would be proud of Arsenal this year whether it be 1st or 3rd.

I couldn't agree more about a top 4 finish. Just take the scousers for what they have spent to get where they are. Looking at what Arsene does should never be taken for granted. Remember that!!

I also agree with you! Wenger is an absolute legend!!! He reads the game better than anyone else.

Anything above 4th place is a positive and a step up from last year! But obviously the championship and europe would be a massive achievment!

Except One...Bendtner isnt a minus. Mmm sorry the crowd against Burnley may well disagree. Credit due he was there last night and did his job but theres no doubt in my mind this guy is not up to it at the top level. Will do a job for someone in mid table but not us.

I was chatting about this last night, it's been massively overlooked.

Toure didn't get on with Gallas.
Adebayor didn't get on with Bendnter.

Presumably, this meant that the people at the club who hung around with Bendtner (it appears to be the Northern European guys) didn't get on with Adebayor, and the "French" faction didn't get on with Toure?

Bottom line is, we gained Â£40m and a fuckload of team spirit!

I think you're right. There's this constant emphasis on them now being 'together' and you can see it in the celebrations and huddles. People have pointed at RVP and Gallas being disruptive in the past but it seems maybe they had good cause.

I also heard someone say - i think on an arseblog podcast - that Song and Eboue were lead astray slightly by Toure and Adebayor and without them have knuckled down a lot more.

The first time I noticed them do this was after the Stoke game (apologies if I am wrong), was this not the first game where Campbell had finished a game and been on the winning side. I remember us always doing this when he was about before and wonder if its something that he has driven since returning. Its great to see the team together like it is at the moment, lets hope that it ends up with them all celebrating a trophy at the end of the season
