The truth behind 52?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The truth behind 52?

Post by Basil is a Gooner »

Bendtner wears the No 52 shirt after being awarded a bumper three-year £52,000-a-week contract extension to 2014.

He has always refused to reveal why he swapped the No 26 shirt but made the decision in the hope of bringing good luck after more than doubling his earnings.

Bendtner said at the time: "I chose to have the number 52 because it's a special number for me personally and I hope that it brings me good luck."

After announcing the switch, Bendtner promised to refund fans who had bought a shirt with his old number. But the joke was the striker would not have to shell out because no one wore a shirt with his name on!

(I know a certain mod who would dispute that......... )

i still think it's got something to do with the number of chances he needs before putting the ball in the net

I fucking love B52 and will probably have his name next season. Who gives a fuck if he comes across arrogant? All premier league footballers are arrogant but most are just too PR-savvy to admit it.

It is simple, he is a good player. :barscarf:

I too really, really like him, he is a top footballer, his all round game is really good, if he starts putting a few chances away he will be unbelievably good for us, im confident of that!

Another nice header at Hull on saturday i reckon!

The Sun Nemspaper is just always famine or feast. You are either World player of the year or a laughing stock to football within 3 weeks. Cant even pick that dross up if it was in a takeaway joint. Piss poor excuse for a rag.
