He has always refused to reveal why he swapped the No 26 shirt but made the decision in the hope of bringing good luck after more than doubling his earnings.

Bendtner said at the time: "I chose to have the number 52 because it's a special number for me personally and I hope that it brings me good luck."

After announcing the switch, Bendtner promised to refund fans who had bought a shirt with his old number. But the joke was the striker would not have to shell out because no one wore a shirt with his name on!

(I know a certain mod who would dispute that......... :roll: )

WTF, this is exactly what's wrong with modern football. No way should Bendtner be getting that kind of cash. F***ing Abramowich started this ridiculous wage inflation. I don't begrudge him earning it, if your boss decides to double your wages without you doubling your performance, why would you refuse.
I just think it's wrong....next you'll be saying Silvestre earns over £20,000pw when he should be on a pay as you play basis.

hugh jardon what exactly is Bendtner a prize prick for (other than all his misses :wink: ) :?:

I think The Sun (very dodgy rag if you ask me - thought they always got everything wrong until I defended George Graham and stood corrected later on that day he was sacked :roll: ) is just making a dig about Bendtner having had no-one to pay back. They won't know how much he spent will they :roll:

His offer was to buy a replacement shirt was only for those who had purchased in the Arsenal shops from June 2009 any of the three current shirts i.e. the home one which came out the year before and the new Blue and White ones.

I am not the only one to have Bendtner shirts. I've seen a few around. But I had a 26 home shirt. I was wearing this at Celtic and seeing as my visit was just a straight in and out of Glasgow on a very early flight the next morning I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express by the airport and decided when arriving back on the bus to wait for the players to come through for their flight back. When Nicklas went through I in a very jovial way pointed at the back of my shirt asking "What's this all about?" I was purely asking him the reason for the change in my mind. He just laughed and said "If you take it back to the shop you can get a replacement" Well at that point I exploded into one and said "Well no I can't because I bought it last year". Therefore I hid from him when going to help put the scarves out the Friday before the first home league match only a couple of days later. He was in the car park round the corner from where I arrived. Anyway I was adament I was not going to replace my home shirt.

I was livid when I saw a couple of days later Nicklas being interviewed on Arsenal TV Online to say alas he couldn't help those who purchased shirts the year before (as this was not stated at Glasgow airport).

However my shirt promptly disappeared on me one match day when I changed at the evening comedy venue I went to afterwards. Kevinho bought me a replacement out of his money and THREE months later it appeared. (I still think he stole it and put it somewhere else for all that time!). I didn't buy a white away until after he changed. I also don't have a blue shirt.

RANT over and bloody cheek that Kevinho had to pay for it at his own expense :banghead: :banghead:

Sounds like you've helped proved my point - Bentdner is a prize prick, and a tight one as well it sounds.

Other reasons include:

* Pink boots

* Childish tattoos

* Number 52

* He clearly suffers from Munchausen Syndrome or a similar disorder

* Oh yeah nearly forgot, he fluffs his lines once in a while

Does he sometimes blow rather than sniff? :shock: :? :oops: Mind you, on his alleged wages he can afford to replace them. Still a waste of good charlie though. :oops: :lol: :lol: :wink:

Yeah, Bendtner remains the monostitch of the squad for me, too.
I'm just not convinced he's a footballer.
But, if he scores at least a goal a game for the rest of the season I'll be warming to him.
Also, his tatts look sooooo faggy. He looks like rent boy of the month in some pillow-biting mag.

I really don't care what number he has as long he scores goals for us. I've kind of become a fan of his the past few weeks since he's been back :oops: :oops:

Were any of you slagging him off actually at the game on Tuesday? Did you even watch it?

You don't like him because he wears pink boots? or because he has childish tattoos? What does that even mean? No wonder The Sun can get away with that utter abomination of an article, when they have readers who hate someone because they wear the number 52! The human race never ceases to amaze me.[/b]

Oh God. First Eboue. Now Nic is the greatest player in the world. :roll:

Seriously. :roll:

Nic is a bit shit. And I LIKE the guy. I like his self belief. I like his work rate. I like his arrogance on the pitch. I like the fact that he seems genuinely thrilled when he scores.

But he is a poor player at the moment and has been since he joined. He is not now a great player because of a hatrick consisting of two 6 yard tap ins and a penalty... :lol:

Having said all that - I still like him, but I don't rate him. Still, he can do a job. He likes to get in amongst the oppo defenders and his link up play is quite effective at times.

But as a striker his finishing is awful. It's not instinctive. He has a long long way to go to become a PL level striker but I don't think he is a natural striker TBH. Time will tell but I honestly (and sadly) don't forsee Nic playing in the PL in 2 or 3 years time. Hope I'm wrong. But I called it on Fannybatter Jeffers and I see it with Nic. :(

We all know he chose the number to be the opposite of he whose name shall not be mentioned.

Fair do's to Bendtner, he didn't hide or sulk when he had the nightmare last week. I said to IHH that the only upside was that he got into the positions to score, for which IHH quite rightly took the pee out of me :D

Lo and behold the kid scores a hattrick next game! kudos to him for having the mentality and the stones to bounce back like that. I think what we perhaps overlook is that Bendtner has missed a lot of football this season, and perhaps is just getting into his stride? he's now got 5 goals in the last 4 games, so who knows? It wouldn't surprise me to see him score one or two at Hull today.
