As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I think that as fans of whatever nation we feel that players now care more about their money and see international games as an injury risk so potentially damaging their earnings and as a result we feel totally apathy towards them. From an Irish point of view I feel that we the fans associated ourselves more with big jacks teams not just because of results but also because you knew that every single game they would give every once they had for the team. Now we have a team captained by a dickhead who has won nothing in his career but feels the players should have a say in the next Irish manager That tells me everything you need to know about the egos of todays average footballers.
From the english point of view I have to say that managing your country is the worst job in world football. The media are gunning for you from the get go(unless you are a bullshit artist like venables) and every decision is mocked as the wrong one in the press. Your fans swallow all the media bullshit saying what a world super power you are and that this player should/shouldnt be in the team or squad and again all this hypes pressure on the manager. Anyway if your contry was serious about winning an international tournament they would have put cloughie(RIP) in years ago and someone similar in charge now - he would take no stick from the overinflated egos that are lumps, stevie g, cashly etc
England are a solid team with very few really good attacking players and a bunch of rubbish reserves or ones not quite ready. Gutted we are out but few deserved credit for that performance, Crouch, Beckham, Campbell and SWP maybe, that was about it. Not that the others didn't try but they were either out of their depth or just couldn't seem to find a teamate to save their life.
