Irish Gooners and our extended Gooner family,
We tragically lost one of our number recently; Dublin Gooner Trish McGarry passed away last weekend.
Some of you will remember Trish from the trip to the CL Final in Paris last May, others from the numerous trips to THOF that Trish made or maybe from watching Arsenal matches in Walsh’s pub in Rush or the Swiss Cottage in Santry. Trish made a lot of friends in her travels following the Gunners and was loved by one and all.
I first met Trish at the Barca game at Wembley in 99. She was a true Gooner (even had the tattoo!) through the good times and the bad, and a wonderful person to know. She was the life and soul of any Gooner get together and we'll all miss her terribly. It is such a tragic loss.
My own personal favourite memory of Trish was in that little post-CL final café we ended up drinking dry in Paris. A certain member of our group (Barry Idiot I think his name was) decided he took exception to us singing derogatory songs about Martin Jol and Tottingshizer Hotspurtz. After he had succeeded in alienating our crowd he decided he’d have a go at a bunch of English Gooners behind us for singing the same songs. I remember Trish grabbing him before he got himself battered and plonking his dumb ass down on a seat and saying something like, “Sit down there now Barry and have a drink, there’s a good lad,â€
