I agree. Though I guess desparate times means the thought of Tweety and Song as centre backs has pushed us to it. To be fair, we should be able to handle Wolves at home without him if need be.
Maybe the general media agreement that it was harsh has convinced the club its worth the risk.
(slightly off topic but a few people today mentioned to me about Almunia being too far off his line for the pen save but i haven't seen the media pick up on it much...)

In the sun report it was a throw away comment at the end saying it should have been retaken? Lets hope the club know they have a no lose case with TV.BT wrote:I agree. I dont get this frivolous appeal stuff..
Whether or not they decide to recind the red card surely they must realise that the decision is contentious enough to legitimately warrant an appeal? Else they are basically just punishing us for daring to exercise our right to appeal which to me, is ludicrous.

That's right. I guess it's up to Arsenal to ensure that they meet the guidelines that are set. What the FA are trying to do is ensure club like man u don't just try and push it "with nothing to lose" attitude.LDB wrote:I dont get this frivolous appeal stuff..

An example would be Ferdinand's red card. He got an extra game because the TV replays left no doubt what he had done. This clearly was outside the contentious area and therefore met the "frivolous" arguement.
I don't know what the guidelines are, but hope that Arsenal have their heads screwed on with this one.

I know our wonderful FA are a bit shit but I think we have a good chance of winning this. (Or we would do if the FA weren't so shit!) Thomas made a genuine attempt to play the ball, there was minimal contact and every time you watch the replay, there seems to be less contact.
Sol's "tackle" on Vennnnnnnnnigggggoooooor of Somewhereorother was far more clumsy and he only got a yellow card - that will probably be part of our case.
The Club must think that they have a good chance of winning and not being deemed frivolous so I hope they have thought long and hard about this before launching the appeal because Thomas will be such a key player if we are gonna make a serious challenge for the title.
He's a bloody star!!
