Always thought that was the history behind it as they used to chop them off captured soldiers.flash gunner wrote:I heard that from the History channel but since been told its not truegreatgooner wrote:I know it was thought for years to have been an insult to the French from the English Archers at Agincourt showing that they still have their string fingers, but sorry not sure of the true meaning of it.

I thought the archers thing was true. But also heard from somewhere that it's a myth.
Another (related?) trivia question......
Why are French people referred to as "frogs"?
Well in the Agincourt period, the French army was a collection of private armies. These armies had there own flags and uniforms. One of the largest ones had flags with three frogs on a plain background.
It could be another myth, though.

I've never understood why a man could find another man sexually attractive, but I would be very happy to have Stephen Fry as a guest at my dinner table. Likewise Elton John or George Michael.
I can fully understand why women find other women sexually attractive. They are beautiful. And complex. And lovely.
My second mrs was bisexual. What a fuckin result!
