Alex Ferguson & Howard Webb

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I've heard stories about Ferguson when he was managing Aberdeen which show just how petty and transparent his laughable attempts at psychology actually are. They also prove that he's always been a sad little shrieker of a twat, not just since he took over at the Theatre of Dives.

Apparently whenever the Sheepshaggers were at home, Fergie would prime all the backroom staff to try to influence the ref against that day's opponents. On arrival at Pittodrie, the Mason in Black would be met by some old geezer who'd show him to his changing room and come out with gems like "Ah dinnae envy ye the day ref. Having to control they dirty St Mirren bastards. Specially their centre half...etc. etc". Once he was in his room, the tea lady would appear with a cuppa and say "Ye'll need tae take a firm hand with they St Mirrem players the day. They'll be kickin oor boys tae kingdom come...etc etc". Apparently the ref would get this from every Aberdeen employee he encountered, right down to the bloke who painted the white lines on the pitch.

Given the supporting evidence of the last 20 years, I'm inclined to believe it.

I really wouldn't be surprised..Its good to hear the old git moaning again though, means we're in his thoughts and he normally only talks shit about teams he see's as a genuine threat.

What I don't understand is why he persists with his sad little ploys when everyone else can see straight through them. It's only him that thinks he's playing these terribly clever mind games.

Also whenever he starts railing against some imaginary injustice that he or his precious ickle babies have just suffered, he increasingly comes across like Mad Jimmy McMad from the bus station, swigging from a bottle of White Lightning i.e. people just say "It's that mad old drunk again, rambling about nothing. Let's just ignore him."

Why can't we have the ploys were people were nice to the ref's?
