Rocky's Anniversary 31st March - -RIP

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

RIP Rocky

When I was growing up Rocky was my first ever favourite player, after him Ian Wright and then Dennis Berkamp..then sort of stopped having a favourite player. But Rocky was my first, and you never forget your first.

I am buzzing about tonight, let's really make it a night to remember and make Rocky proud :barscarf: :barscarf:

Oh Rocky, Rocky.

I watched a bit of 1980s Arsenal the other day and it still hits me how great he was. Everything about him looked so cool and classy. He would have been an absolute mega-star in the Premiership today.

We love him for what he did for us for too short a period but must never forget what he did for the game as a whole. He was the star and hero for young black players, for young black boys on London housing estates and along with Davis and Thomas meant that Arsenal attracted, welcomed and kept so many black fans. Whilst clubs like Chavsea and Leeds booed their black players and made death threats, The Arsenal won titles and defeated local rivals in semi-finals because of them.

We miss you Rocky.

R.I.P Rocky, never forgotten.

I always remember the tribute they played to him on the big screen at the half time of the Valencia game just after he died. A very subdued crowd up to that point suddenly came alive and pushed us onto victory.
