well done highbury spy!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

well done highbury spy!

Post by tomkingsbury »

pleased to see the highbury spy point something out in the current gooner that im sure many of you get irratated about as much as me: the editing of arsenal clips on match of the day. Back we thrashed the scum 3-1 i was shocked to see highlights that suggested that the spuds were the better team for the majority (granted if berbatov had scored it may have been a diff game). Fucking media making us look lucky with their editing - bunch of *word censored*!!

I was at the game Tom and have a copy of the BBC MOTD highlights. The highlights are around 10 minutes long and therein lies the problem. They showed all of our chances and spurs chances - and with 4 goals there wasn't much time left to show anything else. We were in control of the ball and played the better football but that doesn't make for exciting highlights for the "neutral"

As I don't live in England, I don't have access to other MOTD so can't comment otherwise - Just the sp**s game I don't think you have a point with.

hmmmm.....
all valid points galasso, i watched the game online and personally felt the highlights didnt do us justice: i suppose its hard to show we controlled the game in a ten minute slot, but i did feel the highlights still didnt do us justice - at the end of the day, like u said the highlights showed just that: the highlights 'neutrals' would have wanted to c rahter than gooners. For example if manure beat man city 2-1 but completely outplayed, im not goin to want to watch tem controlling the game. However, i did feel the analysis favoured spurs to an extent,a dn usually all the MoTD wax lyrical about the mancs. So point taken, but i still felt the highlights and analysis didnt do us justice.

There's no justice is there tom?

I think the highlights were fair enough because in the first half they show Ade's couple of chances and Hleb's shot on goal, as well as Diaby's hitting of the bar - and sp**s goal. the second half they showed our 3 goals, ade's miss and RvP's shot - and that's was what we had. They then showed sp**s missing 2 sitters thru berbatov and bent and clichy clearing off the line - as well as almunia save from keane. I mean, this is all of the chances and they showed them all.

What you mentioned in your reply was the analysis - and I don't have that so maybe you feel the way those c**ts on MOTD analysed the game lead everyone to believe that sp**s were on top. I suppose, they looked at sp**s misses and this skewed things? For balance, they would have to show Diaby hitting the bar, Hleb thru, and Ade's sitter as well as 3 goals - and that is a fair reflection on that game.

We had chances plus 3 goals - they had chances plus 1 goal and we played better football. It's just that sp**s chances stand out for their ease and the wanky way that sp**s tried to take them :D
