Anyone noticed

Post by charliegeorgewhocanhitem »

that at virtually every game at the grove so far, we've kicked towards the north end in the second half? In fact I can't remember a game there where we hav'nt, could be wrong about that tho, old boy, memory aint what it used to be  Have I missed something and there's a gentlemens agrrement to allow home teams to kick towards the "home end" in the second half of games? Thinking back to our away games so far this season we've kicked towards our fans in the "away end" in all of them. Does anyone know if there is some kind of agreement between clubs about this? or am I just bored on a sunday afternoon with nothing better to think about  or could I just be fuckin mental? :? :? :?

I had a mental conversation with someone in a pub(!!) who raised this issue. I know it wasn't you charlie as it wasn't in sunny essex of the pins. Not sure if I want my head to go spinning so much again

There's not been a game when we've kicked off in the South End first but however for the first game for Bergkamp we still kicked off towards the South Stand for the 2nd half
I sit in the North Bank & always get exited for the 2nd half seeing a ball go in the back of the net when we tend to put our scoring boots on
Hope that anaswer the question haha

Know what you mean, I'm in the east, about level with the goal line at the north end so usually look forward to the second half as we know there's likely to be some action and with my pooooooor old failing eyesight it's much easier to see 8)

Yeah 3 cheers for Mr. Green who made up for his "Robinson" like attempt to punch a cross clear. :?

In a large nutshell, I said to they guy that surely it's because it doesn't matter who wins the toss, both teams usually want the same outcome i.e: away team attacking south end in second half and us attacking north end. Just like Highbury. He couldn't believe that we were lucky enough to win the toss virtually every time. :?

Anyway, he took it a step further by saying that he thought maybe they had a camera on both the east and west stands - thus the TV company could give the illusion that they always attacked the same way in the first half :!: :P

At this point, I thumped my head against the bar. :D

I always notice it coz im block 19 right next to the away section and it winds me up, knowing we seem to always turn it on in the 2nd half and it'll be the other end to us..
I've definitely noticed it

I think it was against Everton - Van Persie free-kick, 1-1.

Did anyone else also notice that Theo was wearing a short sleeve shirt in the 2nd half while all the other players were wearing long sleeve ones?

I didn't notice that, but I have noticed Theo rolling up the sleeves of a long-sleeved shirt before - are you sure this wasn't the case here.

Hmm not 100% sure as I was sat at the back of the lower tier so it was hard to tell.
But it looked like they were short sleved, i'll look on MOTD2 tonight (if they bother to show us)
