chamakh update
Bordeaux's out of contract star Marouane Chamakh has hinted he will be playing for Premier League giants Arsenal next season.
The Gunners were heavily linked with the France-born Morocco international last summer only for les Girondins to dig in their heels.
They refused to do business and will now pay a heavy price should the 26-year-old leave on a free transfer this summer.
Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with the talented striker and he concedes he is finding it difficult to ignore the prospect of playing for Arsene Wenger's side.
Crucial
However, Chamakh knows Bordeaux have a crucial end of the season ahead with a UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Lyon next in their fixture list, while the club are also locked in a keenly-contest battle for the Ligue 1 title.
"Do I already have Arsenal on my mind? A little, but our end of the season is so important that I can't plan for life after Bordeaux," he told L'Equipe.
"I took a risk by not prolonging my contract because I could get injured at any moment. It's the first time I'll be a free agent.
"If I extended including a transfer clause, everyone could take advantage of it. But the situation is much more complex. I take my choice."

I wonder if they feel the same way. They lost out on a few mill (What were Arsenal offering for Chammy? 7 or 8 million?) but they're still in the Champions League and doing great in their league. They refused to do business and will now pay a heavy price should the 26-year-old leave on a free transfer this summer.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 50,00.htmlMarouane Chamakh insists he wants to finish his Bordeaux career in fine style.
The Moroccan star is out-of-contract at the end of the season and he is set to leave on a Bosman transfer.
Arsenal are firm favourites to land him on a free, but it appears neither side will confirm the deal is complete until the season has ended.
Chamakh, though, is intent on making sure his time with Girdondins finishes on a high - although their UEFA Champions League hopes disappeared on Wednesday evening as they were knocked out by Lyon.
"I've just five weeks left here," Chamakh said.
"It's up to me to have nine great matches to go as far as possible with Bordeaux."
Reigning champions Bordeaux are currently fifth in Ligue 1, but they have at least one game in hand over all the teams above them and are just three points off top-spot.
I think it's more "if he carries on like that, he won't be coming to us". Every goal scored is another few bob on his wage demands. We'll be breaking our structure much more of this. Hasn't he got an 18 year old brother instead ?Dan_85 wrote:He's just scored a nice header against Lyon, he can carry on with that if he comes to us please
