No, the FA finished paying Eriksson a week or so before he took over at Man City. About £6000 a day I believe!EdgeOfTown wrote:^^ yeah probably took a while to add all the zero's..
Another example of being paid for failure, we wonder why English Football's in the shit..
Are we still paying Eriksson?
The thing is that the FA couldn't get Hiddink or Scolari - their first choices who might have taken it - or a Wenger or Mourinho, who would never take it - so they had to settle on McClaren. McClaren hired Max Clifford to help his campaign. And after what was reported as a 20 minute interview, Barwick said that they hired McClaren because he "interviewed well" over Martin O'Neill. What the hell is that all about.? And then they give him 4 yr contract, meaning another big bag of compensation and another huge contract for the next manager. While somewhere down the line, football investment will be cut - probably the kids football.
How ironic!

At least Sven always took mediocre England to the quarter-finals. By the way, did you know that Britain’s economy will lose 1 billion pounds because of their failureEdgeOfTown wrote:^^ yeah probably took a while to add all the zero's..

Felt a little sorry for Steve, out of his depth perhaps but he did try to bring tactical flexibility to the team, he did drop big players and give those on form chances to keep their place but while he wasn't up to the job of taking the hoofers through, didn't think he deserved all the abuse he got
