ITV’s shares sale a ‘done deal’ and Stan’s the man (27/3)

usual thread starter... how would you feel about an American speculator owning Arsenal lock, stock and barrel? He'll be in it for the money, but that should mean he has to facilitate Arsenal success. Or it could all go pear shaped if Arsene decides he can't work with the guy. Interesting times...

I guess my big worry isn't the ownership, its the management. Love them or hate them, Dein and his merry band brought in Arsene and have given him a completely free rein to shape not just the team, but the new stadium and state of the art training facilities. As a result, the Arsenal of today is a massively different (and improved?) club/business than that which was here only 10 years ago. Will the Manager now move on at the end of his contract? No doubt some of you think this would be a good thing - but I don't! Will the new owner be more open to the fans view? This is probably the biggest criticism people have of the current board so can it get worse? This is undoubtedly an investment (not a hobby/folly!), so I'd like to see from where exactly do the American's plan to get their return? I think the fans have been screwed enough already, so hopefully its not from us!

More news just in. Ken Friar has given (yes, given - free of charge) 152 of his 199 shares to Peter Hill-Wood. Has anyone any thoughts as to why?

This was the press release from Arsenal Holdings:
On 27th March 2007, Arsenal Holdings plc (the "Company") received notification that Kenneth Friar OBE, a Director of the company, has transferred one hundred and fifty two shares in the Company to Peter Hill-Wood, a Director of the company, at a zero price per share.

This transaction increases Peter Hill-Woods beneficial interest in the shares of the Company to 500 ordinary shares, representing 0.80% of the Company's issued ordinary shares and decreases Kenneth Friar OBE's beneficial interest in the shares of the Company to 47 ordinary shares, representing 0.07% of the Company's issued ordinary shares.

It seems they weren't given, they were only loaned. Thank got that one is explained then - not!! Why would he loan them....for 20 years? Why didn't this long time servant of Arsenal not do what anyone with a bit of cash would do and just go out and buy some?
