Our players weren't motivated enough.

They would have been really fired up for this game, if we hadn't beaten the Totters in the league for TEN FUCKIN YEARS!

( that's for the benefit of any Scum fans on a visit over here. You're STILL shite. If you were to win the league    at Arsenal. TWICE. Then you'd have something to crow about.)

ive calmed down now, and have admittedly written a lot of shit, but i stick with my match reveiw post with the player by player synopsis, and the fact rvp should have started.

in a way its a sense of relief and a weight lifing, as i no longer have to care how we get on for the rest of the season, as we should be safe in th CL postions and now the league that never was is gone.

i can start worring about essex getting thrashed by durham now and a depressing cricket season!!!

now lets all get behind whoever the **** are playing and support city on for 4th place, yes even agianst us (the end is greate rthan the means etc etc)

Like corkbarry, I felt strangely calm and ambivalent about tonight which is why i didn't go. Just had a feeling it was already gone and had put all my energies into the Barcelona games. The way decisions are going for Chelsea, its theirs.

Tonight we played like a team of strangers. An we almost were. Remember no Cesc, AA, Song, Vermaelen, Gallas and ten minutes of RVP who wiped the floor with everyone else (oh how he could have made a difference to our season  ). As strong as you are you can't cover for that much quality being missing. Take Lampard, Drogba, Anelka, Essien, Terry and Cole out of Chelsea.

BUT that's no excuse for the goalkeeper. Or sloppy defending (Sol aside who was immense). And that's no excuse for Diaby, Eboue, Nasri, Denilson and Rosicky to all go missing after a week's rest. Without Cesc there is no heart. Without Song, TV and Gallas there is no strength. Without RVP and AA there is no creativity. And spurs played out of their skins after ten years and a weekend of embarrassment.

We gave the season a good go but its time to drop the deadwood before Man City etc strengthen beyond our reach. But don't over-react. Bendtner, Nasri, Diaby and Eboue have worked hard this season. But too many of the top class players were missing for the last stretch and none of them have done it before or know what's required. Sol is proof of what experience and fight can make up for.

We haven't been robbed this season. We've just petered out under our own exhaustion and lack of steam/heart.

Night.

p.s. I partly blame Wenger experimenting with a v-neck this late in the season when a shirt and tie has worked perfectly well until now.

We lacked anything like a cutting edge for too long, while Spurs backline defended well, too many players had off games going forward (Rosicky again, Nasri, Walcott, Bendtner, Eboue, Clichy, Sagna) while Diaby and Denilson were hesitant in the passes. Van Persie reminded us what we had missed but it isn't as if we have often lacked offensive talent this season

It was our failings at the back. Almunia outshone by the other keeper, heard that plenty of times before, dreadful defending for the second. We have to cut out the mistakes next season at the back if we are to go further, had we defended properly this season, we would probably be top of the league

Seasons is over, let us try to go on a run and see if we can get 2nd with a bit of luck and plan for next season.

yeah magic hat lets write it off till next season but make no changes and expect everything to get miracuosly better... the defensive errors wont decrease as long as AW is here and refuses to sign a proper goalkeeper or worldclass defenders(ie of the quality and stature of sol when we 1st signed him) or actually works on the defence which he doesnt seem to.

Being realistic (and I know it's probably too early for that...) but that gnome Gomes made three world class saves in five minutes from RvP and Sol which would have flown in on any other day.

The first goal was a one in a million strike.

The spuds fans were crapping after the Bendtner goal, because they're so f*king terrified and in awe of us.

It'll be another 10 years... :barscarf:

Clearly some of ye were watching a different game than me........."dont be too hard on diaby" or "not diaby's best game" and "diaby was hesitant in posession" FFS HE WAS UTTER UTTER SHITE
I honestly if I have ever seen a worse performance this season than his tonight and in a season where we have had some 'mares that is saying something  The guy has not got enough brains to fill a smartie ffs and how in gods name wenger left the *word censored* on for the full game tonight is beyond

It has got to the stage now where I hope denilson leaves in the summer - it isnt cos I want him to go but it appears that in the eyes of many he has gone past the point of no return and no matter how well he does he will still be lambasted  Tonight he carried a midfield of forest gump (diaby) and nasri (who tackled nobody and had as many if not more sidewards passes as denilson ever had) and never hid once and was the only one trying to close them down.

I'm am so down about the performance, and I totally inc wenger who is as blind as a bat, then words just escape me right now

Was Rosicky really that bad?

Sure, he had some wayward shots to the corner flag and some dismal, incomplete passes, but he was very much involved in the game, and did make some good plays and looked reasonably threatening.

At least we know Rosicky has qualities, and at any given moment can make a key contribution (playing in Bendtner in the first half was an example; a good striker would've taken full advantage).

He's similar to Arshavin in a way. He drifts in and out of games, but he's worth keeping out there (based on this team) because he is capable of making a difference.

true,he's simular to arshavin and CAN produce something but you cant afford to have so many of these players.just like nasri, diaby, walcott, denillson etc they can produce something but often NONE do

I agree with you both, in that he hasn't made a massive contribution recently - but he did make some decent assists tonight, and if they'd been polished off, he'd be duly credited. I don't think we should discount his efforts purely because Bendtner fluffed his lines.

No I didn't go, but this is how I saw it (TV)

6 players out injured - This was always going to hurt especially as it's our good players who are injured and our shit ones who are fit.

Spurs up for it. They smelt blood and went for it.

At the beginning of the game, Sky talked about us having the advantage in Midfield (I assume becasue of the extra man). Unfortunately our men in the middle were Denilson and Diaby. Modric made them look like amateurs.

Defence - Losing TV was always going to be an issue. I felt sick watching that substitution take place.

Final 3rd - I am going to get flamed for this, but I felt sorry for Nasri. It just looked like he didn't have confidence in those around him so was trying to do it all alone. This just ended up down a blind alley and everything kept falling apart.
What has happened to Rosicky - Shame because he was a truly great player when he came to Arsenal, but has been about as effective as Harry Kewell in a Liverpool Shirt.
Diaby - The last few games were his opportunity for me. I felt that with Cesc out this was his chance to shine. Unfortunately, this must be him done in an Arsenal shirt. He shows glimpses of being a good player but I think he just doesn't have the vision to play this style of Football.

Finally - RvP fit all season and this title would have been wrapped up.
