I know he plays in a shit league but I quite like Ranger's centre half Bougherra, a powerful centre half, I reckon he could make the transistion, and wouldn't cost alot either.
A top class goalie is a must, I would get rid of Alumunia and Flappy, and go for the obvious Lloris, and get Szczesny back as his number 2.
If Wenger didn't get Szczesny back and loaned him back out, I would go for Coventry's Keiren Westwood as Lloris's number 2.
So, with them players going out, and them player's coming in, we would hardly touch the sides of this supposedly 45 million 'war chest'

We have recently had Almunia as captain with the absence of Cesc so i just cant see how he will get rid of him in the summer..... We have another summer of frustration waiting i thinkfranksav63 wrote:I know he plays in a shit league but I quite like Ranger's centre half Bougherra, a powerful centre half, I reckon he could make the transistion, and wouldn't cost alot either.

Of course all the contract wage isn't paid upfront.
but It's factored in and it's a finance mechanism called 'forecast budgeting'.
Although it's not actually done this way but the full contract is effecively put aside.
Therefore you no longer have to worry about it.
Your right this is not part of the tranfer fee but factored into the whole deal (fee + total contract wages) come out of the 'budget', warchest etc...
If a player leaves before the end of his contract and is bought
1) We'll get the transfer fee which will top up the budget for future transfers.
2) Plus we'll have surplus cash in the form of wages which had been forecast for the rest of the players (now cancelled) contract.
For example AA23 get sold 2 years into his 60K a week 4 year contract for £15M.
Firstly, we get £15M. Whether in installments or not we'll eventually get £15M
Also we'll have an extra £6,240,000 a surplus from AA23's wages now not being paid due to the early transfer.
So that's £15M + £6.2 = a budget figure of £21.2M

Your getting further away from yours and Diggers original insinuations which were that when they say they are putting say 25m aside for transfers that that figure includes wages, which implies that the money is being spent on wages there and then and it most certainly is not.. if you are now insinuating that that money is actually set aside to cover the contract then that is an even more ridiculous assumption, because no business much less a football club that owed 300m + would set aside staff salary for 3-4 years in advance
Why don't you just admit that when the club implies that the supposed transfer fund includes wages they do so to mislead us that they are spending more money on players than they actually are, if that wasn't the case they would just say we had 15m to spend on a player and we spent it, we all know players have to be paid, we all know their wages have to be factored in to our expenses as more office staff or more stewards would, lets not pretend they are in any way connected to a transfer fee or fund because in reality they are not 'budget forecasted' or not..

He also had Flappy as captain, either early this season or last (abeit in the Carling Cup) , but I don't think Flash, that makes alot of difference. I really think Wenger will finally fuck him off in the summer, I'm pretty confident about this.flash gunner wrote:We have recently had Almunia as captain with the absence of Cesc so i just cant see how he will get rid of him in the summer..... agreed. If they said there was £15M to spend on tranfers fine. I'm happy with that but the truth is there be a budget figure of say £45M behind it.digger wrote:However you phrase it, I swear Arsenal will not spend £45m (net) on transfer fees this summer.
Signing on fees, agents fees, VAT (!) and wages will all come out of that transfer budget. I'm not trying to piss on your flames, I'm just a seasoned transfer window watcher!

Just to muddy the waters further I'm pretty sure I remember a quote from Edelman I think saying something like each transfer budget Wenger is given is supposed to cover transfer fee & the first year's wages of said player's contract. Not saying it's true - by all account's Edelman was a bit of a clueless twat - just thought I'd give Boomer some more calculations to do on his abacus.Boomer wrote:agreed.
