In defence of Arsene

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Actually - we were and have been a winning Club since the 1930s. I am not trying to get into a bun fight on this but the point our New Zealand friend failed to grasp, needs restating.

You have to go back to the 1920s - if then - to find an Arsenal Manager who has gone 6 years, as it will be next season, without winning a trophy. Yes we have gone 6 years and more without winning things but not with the same Manager in charge.

We have won trophies and specifically Titles not just League Cups, in every decade since the 1930s, bar the 1960s. Utd went 26 years without winning the title and Liverpool are looking at 20 years. Chelsea went 50 years and Spurs are looking at that.

Our biggest gap since the 30s is 18 years.

We haven't 'dominated' since the 30s but we have been consistent winners over an 80 year period, the 1960s apart. That's a pretty fine record.

Spend or step down time has come

If the money is not there (because of the tight board & major shareholders are on the take) sell the crap clingons we have in the playing squad for a start & tell the supporters the real truth

However my feeling is that Wenger & the present regime at the club have now passed the point of no return

No manager is bigger than The Arsenal

Arsene is only the seventh Arsenal manager to do six years, so that's
a pretty skewed list.

He's also one of only eight Arsenal managers to win anything.

It seems to me that we've always won our trophies during bursts of dominance.

1930s, 1950s, late-60s and early-70s, late-80s and early-90s, late-90s and early-00s.

FUCK HIM!!!!! he has made his bed now he can fucking lie in it. He has told us lie after lie, he has defended in the indefensible time after time, and he has championed the poorest of players when all could see they were shite.
Now you ask us to feel sorry for him. well I don't and I sincerely hope he takes a long look at himself in the mirror, and decides that he should go.

Wenger has lost the ability to make his team defend. One of the things i heard from him yesterday after the game was 'we stopped making chances at 2-0' That wasnt the problem we cant fucking defend!!!!!!! We have conceded more goals this season than last and last May he said he wanted to bring in defenders as we conceded too many...... Lets face it the game against City at the weekend could as easily end up 4-4 as 1-1.....

I worry about Wengers sanity sometimes the pressure of top level managing must take its toll in someway, but the thing he must know is throughout footballing history teams that rely on outscoring opponents NEVER win major trophies

I meant one of either the The Football League Cup, The FA Cup, Premier League or UEFA Champions League.

wenger has been the greatest manager our club has ever had and none of us know what goes on behind the scene with finance and buying players , if his hands are tied then he has been a miracle worker but if the money to spend on the right players is available and he hasnt done so because of his insane project then maybe its time he took a long look at himself ,
my own opinion for what its worth is wenger will stay one more season and then retire so out of respect for arsene wenger i think the fans who want him out now should at least give him that,
