People who want wenger out ...

Post by PI7ES »

Was just wondering how many games do the people go to a year? And how long you have been a ST holder if you are one?

Not judging you in anyway i would just like to see. :barscarf:

I only say this as all the ST holders around me have never once said they want wenger out, and reading most pundits/experts they say losing wenger would be a big mistake. But on here the general Consensus is that wenger has to be sacked.

I don't think that's the general consensus, if you look back.

I've been a season ticket holder sine 1886, nearly as long as AW's been manager, and not one season ticket holder, living or dead, has asked for him to be sacked

I for one am a Wenger critic but dont want him sacked. What i want is Wenger to stay and spend a decent amount of money and clear out some deadwood

EDIT: Just for the record i am a silver member who goes to roughly 5-10 games a season but as a TRS member used to go virtually every week home and quite a few aways from 1987-2000ish

No there is a spread of opinion here.

There is not an overwhelming view of 'Wenger out !'

My view is that this coming season is his last chance to get it right. Which means this summer's transfer window is IT !!

He either culls the deadwood and brings in the four player we need - minimum. Or we have the same old, same old dross, making the same old, same old mistakes.

That is his choice.

But if he fails again, then I would want him to leave in the summer of 2011.

You have to go back to the 1920s to find an Arsenal Manager who has gone six years and won nothing.

For the record I have been a season ticket holder off and on since 1970/71 season. 8)

What has how many games you go to got to do with it?

Wenger said he would deliver a trophy this season. He hasnt. He said judge him in May.And thats what we are doing.

Just because we follow Arsenal doesnt mean we have to agree with everything Wenger does like sheep.

I believe Wenger will never again will the title for us.

I agree but think it goes further. or in another direction :? :? .

I mean, if it is Wenger's attitude, idealism, project that is dominating his thinking, then is that likely to change? The way that he speaks about "our football" makes me cringe sometimes, like we are a beacon of pure light in a dark forest.

I have read books about Wenger and listened to some french and english commentators who have his confidence, and I am not overly confident.

I still cannot accept his hypocrisy in playing 3 unfit players against Barcelona.

Totally agree and if the 'project' doesnt stop this summer then maybe its time for him to step down but deep down i want him to stay and i hope he can admit failure in the 'project' and move us forward

+1
Agree with this and Flashes original post.

We're lacking a keeper.
We were a CD short last year despite losing Djourou to long term injury. Vermaelen replaced Kolo and Phil was use sparingly.
We're a Midfielder short. Flamini was never replaced. Song has stepped up but still the numbers in midfield are short.
And Adebayor was never replaced.

I only say this as all the ST holders around me have never once said they want wenger out, and reading most pundits/experts they say losing wenger would be a big mistake. But on here the general Consensus is that wenger has to be sacked.

A few quick points -

1. It shouldnt really matter who many games you go to should it ? I mean I am not have a go at you when I say it but factors have to be taken into account like financial circumstances, ability to obtain tickets and of course where a person lives.

2. I believe a lot of fans are afraid to say publicly at a match that they think wenger should leave. Maybe that suggests that it is easier to hide behind the annonmity of forums like this but I reckon there are far more fans believing that wenger's time is nearly up then you would think at the matches.

3. It is easier for the pundits to proclaim wenger as the second coming of our lord (and I mean no disrespect there) cos Arsenal FC is not their team and the financial outlay of fans means nothing to them. Maybe it is also harder for them to correctly assess the dross representing our club nowadays when they are only seeing one of our games every so often as they rotate around the country To them wenger's ideologies are to be greatly admired whilst to us they are holding us back. Lastly they proclaim that wenger has no cash to spend and have absolutely no problems with the club statements (from wenger and the board) to the contray - to us it is more bullshit lies to the fans who shell out the dearest ticket prices in england if not europe. Giving unproven players big contracts if we have fcuk all cash also grates with most fans :x If we have no wonga then say so and wenger will get a lot more slack although the board would def feel the wrath

I have been supporting The Arsenal since the early 1970's when I was living in London. We moved back to Ireland in 1978 and from then until maybe 15 years or so ago financial restrictions prevented me from attending games. When the stadium was built I purchased a club level seat with my cousin and travelled over a few times a season. These days I share a season ticket with 4 lads and I get over maybe 8 times a season and next season I am hopeful of having my own season ticket.

I've been a season ticket holder for 22 years (before tht used to bunk in, ah i miss those days!) But anyway, going to games doesn't mean your any more of a true supporter. Hell I got lucky with the job I have that I can afford a season ticket, most of the mates I grew up with can't afford it.

ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!

I think Wenger deserves to see the end of his contract, and I think most agree with that. Its just the frustration of being lied to and not addressing the quite massive holes in our team. I mean the Keeper situation is ridiculous, and has been for about 3 years now. Personally I want another Manager in, but I'm willing to give Wenger this year as he's earnt it in the past.
