Arsenal haven’t been on ITV1 since May 2006! (28/11)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal haven’t been on ITV1 since May 2006! (28/11)

usual thread starter… It is difficult to understand why ITV don’t go with the regional choice in game selection. I guess their argument is that more neutrals will tune in to watch Man Utd games in the south east than Arsenal. Okay, last night wasn’t pretty in places, but as a rule, aren’t neutrals supposed to enjoy Arsenal’s football these days? It’s those Arsenal fans without much money who still rely on terrestrial TV I feel for. But lets face it, all ITV care about is viewing figures, so if they believe Man Utd will get more of an audence, they will continue prioritising them. Guess there’s no obligation to provide a service that benefits the region I which they broadcast in their mandate so it’s “F**k you if you don’t like Man Uâ€

its the same in ireland,,
we have setanta, sky and itv as well as rte which all show the cl games,,
but you find that rte ( national station ) will show man u nearly every week,, which is a shame as itv show the same game so both are looking for an viewer share,,
i done the same and e mailed about this and got the same responce about viewer figures etc..
so now i boycott them if arsenal are on another channel as well as rte,,

but itv take the piss with there bias and also have the most annoying comentators,, jim beglin was a prick last nite,, at least on setanta ray parlour was there to back the gunners a bit

i watched match of the day on sunday. every game was reviewed by the panel. when it got to arsenals game they didn't review it. they went to wigans work in the community (muggin for beginners).
not a word said about the ABH dished out by their players.

I noticed it as well, I did a thread on it.
ITV are Man Utd bias bastards

Man Utd vs Sporting is going to be shown on ITV1 while Sevilla vs Arsenal is being shown on ITV4.

Surely Sevilla vs Arsenal match is much more interesting for a neutral: much more rests on this match than the Old Trafford match and it is will less predictable that the Old Trafford match.

The two Arsenal matches shown before on ITV were: Steaua Bucharest away when we won 1-0 and Slavia Prague when we won 7-0. Both matches were shown on ITV4; I have ITV4 but I feel sorry for Gooners that don't have it.

ITV should show at least one Arsenal group-stage match on ITV1 during the group stage but they don't. They've shown at least one Chelsea and one Liverpool match on ITV1 but no Arsenal ones

are you really bothered about what channel we are on, do you really feel the need to complain about this issue to ofcom. I love the fact that the media don't suck us off like they do to manure, i am glad we are not on prime time ITV1 every week with every tom dick and harry deciding that they are now our biggest supporter cos they see us on tv every week, in fact i would love it if we were never on tv and played all our premiership games on saturday at three o'clock. We are The Arsenal, we are top of the league, who gives a f**k what tv channel we appear on.

p.s. please don't text in about my language

We have three different channels that show three games and one channel that shows live highlights from all the games (it's rubbish). Amazingly, they didn't show our games this season in two different occasions so far (slavia and steaua away) and they'll probably won't show us in the last matchday.

The broadcasters are shit and they know nothing about Arsenal and mostly don't talk about football (they said once that Henry didn't passed to Reyes because he thinks the Spaniard wants to take his place as the leader of the team and before you ask, they said it seriously).

Luckily there is a pub (called MASH - More Alcohol Served Here) 10 minutes of driving away from my home, that shows every game in every sport. If someone wants to see a match in great atmosphere when he comes to Israel (i'll buy him a drink too), this is the place to be in. The owner is a greedy bastard, but that's still doesn't matter.

I wrote the article and yes it does bother me that Man U are constantly on ITV1.
Why shouldn't i complain. I have sky and i go to the games but my Grandad (now deceased) had an interest in Arsenal. Why is that he shouldn't be allowed to watch the team of his choice.
He doesn't like Man U, but if he wants to watch a game he has no choice but to watch them.
I don't want them kissing our arse, i just think that it isn't fair to constantly show 1 team on their prime time channel.
Sky often have us on extra, but i pay for Sky so i don't feel the right to moan about it becasue i have the option of stopping the service.
Without Sky i would have 5 channels and i am then forced to watch man U if we're away.
You may see it as pedantic but it's a very British sttitude to not complain and if nobody does then Man U continue to get the media share, something i don't want.
I wouldn't care if Man U were shown accross the country and Arsenal shown on the London regional ITV. That would appease me perfectly.

not sure anyone called 'i hate hleb' should be taken seriously. I do agree with you muncan that their is a media bias, but is really worth worrying about, i personally think the more the media are against us the stronger we will get as the club will develop a seige mentaillity and bring the supporters together. We are the arsenal and we are the best, we are the arsenal so fuck all the rest.
