How long have you supported The Arsenal?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

1st game:

December 1980 - Home to Manchester United. We won 2-1.

I think Sunderland and Stapleton scored one each, but I could be very wrong.

I started going with mates (and without Dad, as he is Bolton born and bred) in September 1986.

From birth because I had no choice. So 1991...

But never even watched a whole match on TV until 2000 because of the time problems. Was back in Ireland that year so was able to watch matches regularly on TV (still wish 9-year-old me had had the presence of mind to arrange a trip to London then...). That was that. Became an insomniac.

First match 2-2 with Everton in January of this year. (Can say that Denilson was the first player I saw score... )

Second match was also in January - 4-2 against Bolton.

Naki_Gooner wrote:Gooner since 1990 first game 2000, Highbury. Think it was Southampton not sure still got me ticket, I was in North bank lower, 2-0 the Arsenal from memory. Was a barman in Whetstone, The Bull and Butcher, got me tickets off locals that werent going, Gooners are Great people. I have some great memories that wouldnt have happened had I not been a Gooner. The day I left London to go home (NZ), it was a sunday, the pub packed out with Gooners and locals to say goodbye, I've never had so many drinks in front of me, and Arsenal paraphenalia out the ying yang, then they made me do a speech, and before I even started speaking I started welling up, was blubbing like a baby by the end, the generosity of those people and the fact they took time out to come and say goodbye to a mere barman, is something that has stayed with me from that day. Glad I am, and PROUD TO BE A GOONER.
Nice one - glad to see Gooners stick together everywhere .. shouldve mentioned that since 1979 my first trip back to Highbury in 2002 was with thanks to tickets for me n the missus from the one and only Martin Keown - true gooner.
