That sardine feeling means going to Arsenal isn’t fun (3/4)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

That sardine feeling means going to Arsenal isn’t fun (3/4)

usual thread starter... aisa are apparently meeting with islington council soon to put across the fans' point of view. kind of doubt they are going to lift parking restrictions on matchday though. too easy a cash cow and unpopularity from those outside the borough is hardly going to cost councillors votes in the local elections :x

General comment is correct, however for £250 + VAT you can secure a season long car parking space 12-13 mins. walk from the ground in a secred gated school. Share that amongst 3 or 4 and it's cheap as chips and cheaper than the tube!

Call me on 020 8450 9955 or email me at [email protected] for more details.

I have never really understood all the fuss about Holloway Road tube being shut after the game. It is on the Piccadilly line and so even if it was open the trains going south would already be full from the fans using Arsenal Tube. For trains going north you would just move the queue from Arsenal/Finsbury Park to Holloway Road. Unless you can run more trains at the peak time and perhaps open up Drayton Park I can't see how the situation will ever improve.

i guess if they could run a few more trains they could have piccadilly line trains stopping at either arsenal or holloway road to actually get the queues down at both stations without being hampered by a packed train due to the station before. but to work properly the trains would have to be timed to stop at the same time to load up at each station and move on at the same times. could be done though if they put in escalators at holloway road.

I couldn't agree more re-the crap public transport. I don't want to drive in, but I do because of so many bad experiences on the Piccadily line (the worst being last season v Brum, when we'd been delayed on the M1 and arrived at Cockfosters to find that there were engineering works & no trains past Wood Green!!!).

What would help would be to have some Piccadily & Victoria line "expresses" with Arsenal/Highbury & Islington as first stops. I don't think the answer is to make it easier to park - and if I see one more posting from that rip off merchant "Gee" with his secure parking for ONLY £250 +VAT then I'll f*cking scream!!! Ed - any chance you could just remove him?

well i've been struggling with the 'gee' dilemma. it's advertising, but is it also informing forum members of a service they might not have known about? tell you what. he's had his plug. message relayed. anymore postings from gee which mention his service i'll delete. but i'll leave the existing ones as they are under the 'public information service' umbrella. any more from here on will be regarded as taking the pee.

Many of the road around Ashburton Grove are relatively empty, even on match days, so relaxing the restrictions would make room for quite a few more cars. If Islington council were more creative maybe they could sell a restricted number of permits for the current no-go zone? All of this would make getting away by car pretty slow, but better than standing in a queue at Finsbury Park - or leaving early...
