Funny that the Conservatives think that they've got the right to lead the country now..... 37% of the c60% of people who bothered to vote = 78% of the electorate didn't vote Conservative. Some mandate!!

Under the percentages of support which party has a mandate for power? No one so what do we do vote again?

If people dont bother to vote then they arent giving a mandate to anybody therefore they cant claim to be relevant in any calculations of mandate.

Your right however that a majority of people who bothered to vote didnt vote conservative but at the end of the day somebody has to run the country and a majority didnt vote for labour for any of the last 3 elections.

Whatever happens, the next government will involve the conservatives.

Voted Lib Dem but my area is so heavily conservative my vote is only worth 0.02 of a vote to 1 Tory vote. Not going to bother next time.

Its the only way Marc.

No one won the election last night but Gordon Brown and Labour certainly lost, so for him to be clinging onto power is pathetic IMO. The conservatives have as strong a mandate as anyone else so the stats above are pretty worthless really

Part of the issue is......and it's proven by the reaction of some on here, is that as soon as anyone mentions a problem with immigration, they are labelled a racist, similar to what happens if you express you are a patriot to many people. The fact is immigration is a huge issue in this country after a virtual 'open door' policy from this Labour government. We NEED foreign labour to implement our work force and to fill positions that Britain cannot fill themselves but we DON'T need faux refugees or so called political asylum seekers who KNOW that Britain are the softest touch in Europe when it comes to handouts, why does everyone try to come here? Because we give them more handouts than any other European power. We have to move to a qualification system along the lines of Australia where we ensure that those who come in have something to offer and not just sponge off the state.
