Man Ure in Europe

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Man Ure in Europe

Post by exiled in notts »

So that's 2 away games in Europe on the trot in which Man Ure fans have been involved in aggro with the local plod, but as usual they're trying to portray themselves as innocent victims of nasty Johnny Foreigner. Expect all the favourite cliches. "It wasn't our fault. It was... " (delete as applicable or insert your own laughable excuse):

(a) Italian Ultras
(b) Heavy handed policing
(c) Poor crowd control
(d) Opus Dei

Nothing to do with arriving pissed up and lairy then?

What are the odds we get more of the same tonight in Seville from the charmless bunch of knackers who follow Spores in Europe?

No surprise there. Travelling utd "fans" are probably the worst bunch of knackers I've ever come across. Two of them jumped a mate of mine on the concourse at the E******s and tried to rob his scarf after we beat them 2-1. Luckily, a couple of our stewards dragged them apart before it got too messy.

Italian ultra's are scum no doubt, but isn't it funny how every time utd play in Europe they end up in hassle - no matter who they play against or what country they're in?

Just think what the post match atmosphere would have been like in Paris last May if it had been utd instead of us. I was at the CL final that night and our fans were a credit to the club. We sang and drank and sang and I personally saw no trouble at all.

I was over with a large contingent of Irish, English and Welsh Gooners and at one stage we had a sing along with the local Gendarme riot squad parked on the corner. We'd sing "Allez les Bleus" and the cops would reply with "Allez les Rouge". The banter with those riot cops was great. Things got so relaxed that they ended up standing around smoking and chatting with us and even showed us their guns.

No riots, no strong armed policing, no hooliganism, no racism, no trouble - just footy fans trying to get over the terrible dissapointment of losing the final and deciding "fuck it - we lost, let's make a night of it and sing our songs and be proud".

We even had a drink with the few Barca fans that actually went out and celebrated their win. Turned out they hate Chav$ki as much as we do!!

I've always worn the colours with pride but that night in Paris I was extra proud of our club. Pure class - something the troglodites and neanderthals at utd and spurtz just don't have and never will. The gimps. 8)

Says it all about representing your club abroad DB10. Apart from the small matter of the result, it sounds like you had a good one over there and did us proud.

Amazed you got the French riot police chatting though. They're not normally known for their warm welcome. I knew there was reason for having all those French blokes in the side.

Anybody who has been anywhere near a game involving ManUre knows exactly what their 'fans' are like and the stories about the poor lambs being victims of some nasty Italians is rather rich.

I have never had anything but good experiences on European trips with Arsenal;

- The happy AC Milan supporting cabby who dropped us back at our hotel after we beat Inter in the San Siro.
- Juve fans last year who were supposed to have been 'waiting for us' (according to British tabloids) only to support their team loudly and peacefully - no missiles or baton charges that night.
- Drinking with Ajax supporters for hours in Popeye bar when I was only one of three Gooners in a pub rammed full of Dutchmen - actually done this twice for both the recent games- Ajax supporters are class.
- Porto fans swapping shirts, scarf’s and anything else people were willing to take off!! I won't forget the mutual applause at the end of that game for a while - they pretty much stayed with us until the Police would let us out of the ground!!
- Shaking hands with the Barca fans and being waved to and cheered on by Lord knows how many French supporters as we drove from Calais to Paris from the boat (so many in fact that it got a bit tiresome to wave back in the end!!).

Top memories of European trips - and I've not been nicked, bloodied or pelted with missiles at any of them (odd that)!!

So with all that in mind we see ManUre fans kicking off again, makes you wonder whether it was the Roma and Lille fans that have the problem really........

Final day in paris was awsome. All day, everyone in the street (whether french or barca fans) cheered and waved to us. apart from a spot of bother we had in a bar (caused as much by the arsenal fans there as well as the barca), the atmosphere was fantastic.

Sorry, forgot to mention the locals in Paris. All positive vibes and a warm welcome. Probably something to do with us being polite, friendly and showing a little bit of curtesy and respect in a foreign city.

Even though the result still haunts me (I've waited thirty odd years to get to that bloody final :( ) the trip goes down as one of my all time favourite trips following the Arsenal.

As my missus said at the time; we'll be there again... 8)

Love all the manure fans express how they "didn't see any united fans causing trouble" guess they missed the hundred or so muppets who went pelting over to the barracade to taunt the Roma fans. The polising probably was heavy handed but there was a mass of segregation between the two sets of fans until they went running over to the home fans. There were no police near them until it kicked off and then they waded in.
Proud to be a gooner and not have to witness that sort of behaviour.

I like it :) !!!

Well said you guys. I'd actually been feeling a little sorry for them, but you're right. Trouble seems to follow them around.....

It isn't all united's fault the lille match was the OB's fault for over packing the away terrace. In the ground for the roma match you can clearly see the roma fans charge into the see threw glass the united fans react then the OB taking no prisoners. And when united score they charge the glass and start piss taking then the italians start lobbing missiles and when they score again they charge the glass and lob missiles OB doing fuck all to them instead attack united and even saw them crack a woman in the face with a baton and a bloke lying on the chairs got hit like 15 in the head.

DON'T LET ANYONE FOOL YOU ITALIANS ARE SNEAKY FUCKERS
P.s. Not saying mancs are completely innocent, heard there were fights outside the ground aswell.

The fans were sat away from the glass divide to try and ensure those events didn't take place but the united fans charged over to the Roma fans. It should have been policed better there should, like at English games, be a row of stewards between the two sets of fans to stop this from happening. I think the Italian F.A should contact the English F.A and get this sorted before people start getting killed.

I couldn't agree more about Italian fans. They have huge scum hooligan numbers. Paris would have been a different ball game if we'd played against an Italian club. But as last night (11/04) proved, the mancscum are just as bad.

Hope to God they don't win it.

As far as who started it in Italy; surely the point is that the mancscum fans should not have charged the glass no matter what the provocation? Italian cops don't hesitate, it's hit first - ask questions later. Stupid Mancscum should know that by now, so why charge over and give the cops the excuse to wade in? Especially as those cops were pissed off anyway following the mancscum fighting outside the ground before the game.

Why were all these "innocent Man Utd football fans" over by the glass in the first place? They had to charge twenty or thirty yards to get there.

They got what they deserved.

I know where you are coming from DB10. ManUre fans often bring this on themselves. However....the question has to be asked as to why, when Italian football fans in general and Roma Ultras in particular have such a poor record, were the police not on both sides of the perspex?? I think I know the answer, & it doesn't reflect well on the police or Italians in general. Looks to me like they do hesitate, but only if they fear they might be the ones getting the beating!

Yeah, you're bang on there about the Italian cops, MK Gould. The problem is the power the Ultras have in Italian society not just the world of football. It's been well documented by others on here so I won't repeat it but, basically, the police and the clubs live in fear of the fans.

We're talking about stadium security that allows ultras to bring flag poles ( :( ), knives ( ), guns ( ) and scooters ( ) into the stadium. It will always be that way. The dumb mancs know that.

Which drives home my point that the mancscum got what they deserved by responding. Everywhere they go they get involved. They really are a disgrace to the Prem League, aren't they?
