Which figure would you announce?
Is it Arsenal Football clubs fault that 4.000 did not turn up?
But did they sell those tickets ?
Or are they just saying so ? In effect
lying ?
I sit in Club Level - or at least I did until yesterday, I will not be renewing for the forthcoming season - and they say there is a waiting list for Club Level and even advertise the fact at the Ground. Sounds fair enough.
But as I enter Club Level with my Platinum Smart Card I see many others entering with paper tickets.
Why ? Because Club Level cannot sell out as the prices are too high - between £3 and £5.5 K per season - so some seats and I would estimate as many as a third are sold on a match by match basis.
But even then Club Level still has many empty seats even for A grade fixtures as anyone can see.
So how can the Club possibly call capacity attendance figures for the whole stadium, when one area of the ground that is supposed to be all Season Ticket, is often 10 or 20% short of capacity because they haven't been able to shift the non 'Season Ticket 'seats there, on a match by match basis ?
If they are fibbing about Club Level, why should they not also be fibbing about seats in the lower and upper tiers ?
