PES10

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

PS3/360 Generation

FIFA 10 > PES 10
FIFA 09 > PES 09
FIFA 08 > PES 08

PS2/XBOX Generation

PES 6 > FIFA 07
PES 5 > FIFA 06
PES 4 > FIFA 05

and so on....

ever since the console generation evolved, EA took a big step on the new gen with a new game and not looked back since while Konami have brought out PES 08 for last 3 years with updated kits.

Fifa ofcourse is more famous, it is fully licensed and all yes. But i would play pes anyday, i really could not be less bothered by the kits not being accurate or the names of the german players not being correct. Its all about gameplay.

The above is solely for the ps2 though.
No, its not anymore before it used to just be about kits and names but now Fifa game play is better and everything else is better about the game. People that buy PES year in year out are being mugged off by Konami, nothing changes from year to year apart from a few graphics or moves.
PES 11 promises to be awesome though.

PES is still the king. i was unsure this year as they slowed it down more and passing took a little longer but it is still miles ahead of fifa.
players look absolutely shite on fifa, everyyear i look at cesc and he runs like a frikin avatar! sagna the lot they look terrible, the passing is done for you theres no freedom and the floaty shots are a joke.

i seriosly dont know how anyone can like fifa. i try it every year and its the same shit, stiff and slow taking forever to do what you just pressed and yes messi can run thru whole teams turn ur tv on once in a while

Back to topic..

Type LOAD "". Hit Enter. Press 'play' on your cassette recorder. Listen to screechy sound for 10 seconds while tv screen shows manic blue & red lines. Colours stop whilst screechy noise continues. Stop tape. Rewind to beginning. Adjust volume levels. Type LOAD "". Hit Enter. Press 'play' on your cassette recorder. Screechy sound continues & lines flash on tv screen for further 5 minutes. Cool-looking monochrome picture slowly appears centre screen. Screech stops. Screen blinks. Screen goes black, then white. Words appear. "Sinclair Research Ltd 1982". Rewind tape again. And we built a gaming culture on this? What an archaic thought.

Typical fifa fanatic xD. (I am referring solely to the ps2 version), i have found a difference over the years, and the difference is JUST enough to enjoy the game. People do not like extreme change, the latest pes ps3 version is a fine example.

World Cup Soccer '90 on NES - BEST game in the world EVER! You could actually kill players and by the end of the game it was often 5-a-side!

Not a fanatic by any means. I've been buying PES every year up until last year when I rented Fifa to see if it had got any better and I couldn't believe the difference. Playing PES now against Fifa is like playing the Spectrum to be honest. People don't like extreme change? Are you serious?lol For £40 odd a year I want real change, not just kits or slowing down the game. I'll just download the free patch for that. People that are still hooked on PES are just indenial, just like I was for all those years. :barscarf:

Yes, Yes, I totally agree..
Ahhhh, the stuff of legends with honourable mentions to Chequered Flag and Jet Set Willy too :D

One of my favourite memories was playing one of the first Football Manager games on the Spectrum round my mate's house in the 80s. The connection lead to the old plastic box used to be quite loose and just when we were on the verge of winning the FA Cup his cat stepped on the lead and crashed the whole thing !!! We stuck it back in, sellotaped it in like fuck and started again in the 4th division !! :D :D :D
