Could Usmanov get Man Utd out of their hole? (3/12)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Could Usmanov get Man Utd out of their hole? (3/12)

usual thread starter… Forgetting the Usmanov solution, the real point of this article is that United’s financial position has become a bit of a house of cards, due to the Glazers only ever paying off the interest on the loans they took out to buy the club, but never the loans themselves. The only way they can ever be paid off would be if the Glazers sold the club and despite their denials, that would seem the only logical strategy. So one day they will sell to someone who thinks they can make a profit from the club themselves or has money to burn, a la Abramovich. Arsenal are so sought after now precisely because the finances are rock solid, but none of us want to see the club become a cash cow for a new owner. And Usmanov’s so-called love of the Gunners is very transparent, as his ‘knowledge’ of the last double team makes obvious. If he moves in, money will move out.

I fear this article may be unduly optimistic.

A large part of Arsenal's medium term financial strategy is based on property development. Not just the old stadium (where most of the flats have been pre-sold) but in the surrounding area such as Queensland Road.

If, as seems likely, the current turmolis in the financial markets cause a crash in property prices, Arsenal will be affected more than most clubs.

Is this the same Arsenal pulled up by the LSE for giving false financial figures out?

I don't think Arsenal are even listed on the London Stock Exchange.
