Wish I could think of a quality player who stayed at a club that wasn't winning trophies.

none of you understood me.

i'm not comparing cesc to bergkamp. listen, i'll make it easier for you:

football quality:
cesc - excellent
db10 - excellent

giving 100% for arsenal on the pitch:
cesc - excellent
db10 - excellent

being a very nice fella:
cesc - excellent
db10 - excellent

I love:
cesc - yes!
db10 - yes!

the club that his heart belongs to:
cesc - barcelona
db10 - arsenal

see the difference now? i love them both. but cesc made a transfer request, and db10 didn't. the club of db10s heart is arsenal, while cesc's is barcelona.

and i bloody hate barcelona.

accepted the ridiculous 1 year contracts when he still had a lot to play and could earn better contracts elsewhere.

edit: also has a good coaching contract at his former club but has stated that he wants to work HERE, at arsenal.

he's got a box as well - unsure why AW wouldnt want him - threat to his job probably

Barca will always be in his heart this is what happens when you poach youngsters from abroad

it's easier to poach a youngster and make him love your club than buy a 26yo international player who was amongst the best in the world a couple of seasons before and make him love the club more than where he started.

His heart is somewhere else but i think he could have been persuaded to stay if he saw things were moving in the right direction. He obviously hasnt been convinced

bergkamp could've joined bigger teams if he wanted. he could have been in a champions league winning team if he requested a transfer.

I wouldn't agree. DB10 would have rightly felt he could win the CL with us. Christ, how that team didn't win it is almost beyond me!! Plus he was winning silverware almost every season with us. Cesc has won nothing with us and there's more chance of me winning the grand national on my rocking horse than the current lot winning the champions league. I agree DB10 is a LEGEND but to compare the two is unfair as the teams and the circumstances they were involved with are poles apart.

BG - Bergy WAS at a European giant, he came to Arsenal and was surrounded by top quality players and was winning trophies...........why do you think he stayed?

Cesc has played for the last few seasons with half a team of decent players and half of very average quality, with a manager who chooses to throw both domestic cups , and the best team in the world want him. He wants to go to them....surprised?

No comparison between the two whatsoever except for the fact that we have been privileged to have both at Arsenal.

Why would he? He was in the form of his life, enjoying where he played and enjoyed the top class players he was playing with. Im sure if you asked Bergkamp his true love would be Ajax as much as Arsenal if not more but the other factors where at Arsenal for him and are not for Cesc

so why does db10 wants to come back to arsenal when he has a coaching career at ajax, his former club?
