Selling Club

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What have you seen that makes you confident it would be so?
I like many have thought the same way for the past 5yrs but the time has come for the passing of blame between the board and Arsene to stop and for the truth to come out.

Expectations need to be set to what the club can actually achieve, if we never had money then Arsene is a hero but if we had then he needs to go.

We have gone from keeping the faith to clinging to Hope and now that will slip away once Cesc goes in my opinion because as you said who knows if we will invest.

But the fact remind, why sell Cesc when you should build around him.

Can't disagree with much there. Although my sense is that while the club had money I'm not sure how much if any was actually available to the manager. Like I say our retreat to a bottom-loaded wage structure probably prevented more signings than anything else. And if you read the Premier League Report on the Ashley Cole fiasco it made it pretty clear that at that point the Board had the final say on all wages.

If true the Board have set things up to elimintae acquring more expensive players by discouraging them coming to play for Arsenal by making clear they would only be paid significantly less than market value (The Times story leaked out that two 20 million pound players could be bought if they would play on 80,000 a week), which then saves the club both on wages and transfer fees while allowing the Board to disingenuously claim "money is available to spend", since as I said before they neither have to prove or actually spend it then.

So you are ABSOLUTELY correct - its time we knew the truth. Its well past time we knew it really.

How about fighting to convince him to stay by buying three of four really good players starting with Moussa Sissoko? Then even if he leaves we have a much better team going into next year, and if he stays maybe a team that actually wins an actual trophy again.
