Joe Cole is a greedy chav *word censored*!!!!!

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

I'm not convinced this is true, but Joe Cole's contract presumably expires on that date? I don't think you can announce a transfer to another club in the same league until your contract actually expires.
His free to talk to other teams so I can't see why not. It does seem very Arsenal's style (class) to annouce something once the contracts expired.

Take Chamack we only annouced the deal after the French league had finished.

An odd but welcomed sigining. Has experience, English etc....J.Cole and Wilshire in the same team?!

A good point.....wilshire might be thinking that the possible departures of 1 or 2 of the dwarves that currently fill our midfield would open the door for him but if joe cole arrives where would that leave him ? Back to square one I would suggest or maybe back further than he stands now cos at his age joe cole wouldnt be a short term signing either

I know it seems that I am almost on my own here (nothing new there then  ) but I just cannot see any logic to this move :? I have always believed him to be over-rated and he has failed to establish himself as a regular under the last 3 chav managers which suggests a lack of confidence in him but the bottom line for me is that he does not fill a need for us and would be another wenger prototype signing - small check, lightweight check, versatile check, free check, more hype than substance check
It the the bolded that makes this rumour sound all the more likely. Not to mention it's in an area that we really don't need to strenghten and still not highlighting weaker areas. It's Mad but it would be very Wenger.

He'd be able to whip crosses in, take shots from distance and completely revolutionise our play. Crosses to Bendtner and Chamakh and occasional shots from 30 yards, we'd win the League! IM BEING VERY OPTIMISTIC BY THE WAY!

Yes please!

And that wilshere argument is a non-starter, how often do we sit on this forum complaining about Wenger not signing porven quality to avoid "killing" the young players? Wilshere has some competition for a place and a player who he should be able to learn a great deal from.

Just to clarify I'm not stating that, if rumours true, we shouldn't be siging Cole.

I think our judgements can be easily clouded as, unlike most of the youth to have come up, Wilshire is probably one of the best players we've produced. The Wilshire factor maybe more hard to take over other players. In my post I was only highlighting the fact we could have two very similar (& unique) players. Not a bad thing.

Cole's often played on the left, especially for England and used to cutting in. Plus I quite like the idea of seeing the two learning and practising skills off on another. Almost and 'skills-off'!

Wilshere will be on loan next year anyway, he's only young, I doubt us signing Joe Cole will hamper his development, if anything having someone like Cole there would help him.

Be intriguiong to see if it does goes through

This is amazing - i was literally coming on to write the very same thing!

Had a client dinner last night, got sat with this mad gooner, anyway he was banging on and on about how he knew people in the club etc, and said this very thing! Apaprently 120k a week, was all sorted last week and will be announced by next Tuesday on expiry of his contract (given the bank holiday)

I thought it was a drunk man rambling, but looks like there could be some truth in this if we are all coming to the same conclusion?

As for Wilshire...season long loan at Bolton in return for Cahill at £10m? Id be happy with that!
