FIRST ARSENAL SIGNING YOU WERE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I always believed in the "George Knows" banner, so I thought "OK, he must be the new Garrincha"

remember being gutted to miss out on Barnes and Cottee
getting Nicholas was huge

biggest buzz was def Bergkamp he was my favourite player in the world before we signed him

but what do I know I thought Platt was an awesome signing and I was more excited about Suker than Henry

It has to be for me ... Malcolm Macdonald from Newcastle and he did the business for us, no question IMO...

Then of course after that (some years later) i got kinda excited when razzle dazzle Chas Nicks from Celtic signed for us ... he used to turn on the style back then (at the night clubs too of course LOL) and make away days soooo much more fun than the players of today do..

Remember him dancing to 'Reet Petit' on the pitch before an FA Cup game at soooo cold Grimsby ? ahhh dem were de days

He just hadn't done it for me in Europe (even before we signed him), wheras Bergy had already done the business for Holland etc .... maybe your expectations (and others too) of what he (Arsha) can do for us was more than mine ...

Be great if he proves me wrong.

Think that's why i find it easy to get on his case when he mouths it to the press...

He's due another one BTW (Maybe Arsene has finally told him though to keep shut)
