They were here in 2009 for a festival tour but I didn't go so my first time seeing them. Not sure if they were here before 2009 though.Gooner_Sam wrote:They're going to Sydney?! Wow they've become huge.. Welsh bands are amazing!RaM wrote:Bought my ticket today to see Bullet For My Valentine in September.
Saw them in London last year playing songs from their previous album, immense night.. hearing Hearts burst into fire live was orgasmic!
And all the best bands come to Sydney. We're a truly international city. Like London, but on the other side of the world and really far away from everywhere important...and we're not the capital of the country.

Anyone remember this classic from the early 80's by The Boomtown Rats, really surprised it didn't do better in the charts than it did:-

I'm a huge Bright Eyes fan!slevinlacey wrote:gusher311 wrote:slevinlacey wrote:Due to reaching mid 20's Ive grown out of my pop punk days and have turned to diy folk/punk and folk, artists such as andrew jackson jihad, ghost mice, mystic valley band etc.
What artists you into Sam?
Saw mystic valley band about a year ago and they're good. You listen to monsters of folk?
Yeah I went to Cardiff to see Monsters of Folk, was waiting to get the train back to London as the band strolled into the station, all genuine guys, Conor was suprisingly nice.

Conor Oberst should be releasing the last ever Bright Eyes album later this year/early 2011 - be good to see them live again.

I listened to some Bright Eyes on Youtube - I didn't want to say that it was shit before I had even listened to it
It was shit
Nah, not really shit, but just too passive and inward. I don't know the band, but I think that they must have been played a few times in these teen American/regular dramas to convey lost/estranged love, or lost/strange people.

I would never recommend them to anyone as they're certainly an acquired taste!
He hasn't got a great voice, the music isn't polished at all, and it's all a little depressing - but I like it!

Radiohead are pretty fantastic too, by the way

Maybe Bright Eyes are just too folksy, and not depressing enough for me
