To be fair, maybe Capello’s expecting him to ghost past defenders seeing as he died last Friday.

I hate to say this but I'd fancy Shaun Wright-Phillips to have more impact on our World Cup chances than Theo.

He has had a poor season for us and getting the nod for the World Cup would have given him totally the wrong message.

Well done to Capello!!

Hopefully it’s a kick in the bollocks for him & he realises doing something for Arsenal should be his priority & getting a game for England will follow as a by-product. Maybe now he'll bother to actually work on the weak parts of his game - namely everything except running & man-marking the linesman.
Spto-on mate. His "England is the goal" focus earlier in the season was well off the mark for someone who has produced so little.

Good, he didnt deserve to go. Apart from his goal against Barcelona in the first leg, he hasnt done much. Joe Cole must be in then!

I thought he was going because he was kind of "established" in the squad all the way through qualifiers and since....I guess Capello wants someone on the wing who remembers to take the ball

All bias aside as things stand Lennon shits on Walcott. A big Tom Hundredstone post all-you-can-eat-buffet shit, too. Which is saying something.

Walcott left out of England squad

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott is the surprise omission from England's 23-man World Cup squad, BBC Sport understands.

Walcott, 21, was in the provisional squad of 30 and started both of England's recent friendly victories against Mexico and Japan.

But Chelsea's Joe Cole has been included in the final squad, which flies to South Africa on Wednesday.

Gareth Barry had a fitness test on his injured ankle on Tuesday morning with initial reports sounding favourable.

The Manchester City midfielder has not played since he picked up a ligament in a Premier League match against Tottenham on 5 May.

The World up begins on 11 June, with England's first game coming a day later against the United States in Rustenburg.

More to follow.

Both are more productive players. I think this will be the beginning of the end for Walcott, and good riddance.

Thats only happened this year. Lennon was incredibly inconsistent bnefore Redknapp took over. He's onyl really come into his own since then, and even now, how many times has he troubled a really big team?

SWP has been shit all year. I honestly don't see the point in leaving Theo out, I think as an impact player he's just what England need.

Hopefully, with the summer off he can use this dissapointment to really galvanise him and we'll reap the rewards next year.

In a sense yes, lennon is clearly a better all-round winger but i dont see why we need both him and SWP. SWP imo is just a poor mans aaron lennon, walcott gives something different to both of those and i would personally sacrifice SWP for theo.

On a personal level i feel for theo, i know a lot of people are frustrated with him but for an ingerland player hes a sound and honest lad. Perhaps this can inspire him to make a real fist of his arsenal career.

Walcott is invaluable as an impact player and carries a pedigree and fear in opposition defences.

Its 80 minute mark againt germany, England are 2-1 down. On comes Shaun Wright-Philips.

Good luck with that.
