Arsenal turn down Barca offer for Fabregas

Arsenal Football Club have today released the following statement about captain Cesc Fabregas:

"Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is under contract with the Club until the summer of 2015. He is a highly valued member of the team and part of our future plans.

"We have followed recent speculation linking Cesc with a move away from the Club but as there has never been any official approach for him, only two informal exchanges, in which we made it abundantly clear that we have no interest in transferring Cesc, we have refrained from publicly passing comment. However, yesterday evening we received an offer from Barcelona for Cesc and in response, we immediately and resolutely told them once again that we have no intention of selling our captain.

"To be clear, we will not make any kind of counterproposal or enter into any discussion. Barcelona have publicly stated that they will respect our position and we expect that they will keep their word."

Which begs the question why they didn't come out with anything so resolute earlier on in the piece?

I think they have only now stated this info because barca have only now put in a official bid, before it was just rumours and their *word censored*'s of players speaking.

Feels alot better we are sticking up for ourselves.

So why was Peter Hill Wood shouting his mouth off , and then when pressed, couldn't give an unequivocal answer that Cesc wasn't leaving regardless of what Barca wanted or offered?

The fact remains that if they had released that kind of statement after Barcelona first starting opening their gobs, it would have given Arsenal fans some reassurance and saved a whole lot of stressing (and in some cases, cussing!!!)

Im with you BG - Arsenal remained classy and unlike Barca didnt mouth off to the press every 5 seconds...as soon as an official bid came in, it was made public and we told them to fuck off.

We are a class football club inlike those mouthy fuckers - and we have balls despite what some on here believe.

Im proud of the way the club has reacted to this, remained honourable and classy throughout.

I can understand people saying there was no point getting onvolved until it was official but considering they have a "tranfer speculation" section then they clearly do get involved in this kind of thing and must have known we were going mad!
