Official World Cup Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The thing with the World Cup is every game is played away from home so there is no point in taking Nasri

I would love to see the dutch win it (if we don't that is) always had a soft spot for them i love the way they play, but they always seem to falter when it matters and i think they will again in this world cup.
Brazil are obviously always in with a chance but i look at them now and they look as ordinary as i have ever seen them.
I would have backed the Argies as possible winners this year but having Maradonna as manager is a huge handicap for them and although they have enough talent to win the thing i think that crazy bastard will make it very difficuilt for them to do so..but i still think it would be foolish to write them off..
If i had to bet on it i would have to go for Spain as winners..they are very strong and now have the belief they can really win the big tournaments, so barring complacency i think this one should be theirs..unless we can stop them of course...

Trust me, Flash - they'll win it solely BECAUSE he is in charge! Maradona is too mental to realise he can't win it!! :-P

Never ever mind the qualifiers either, the finals are a whole diferent ball game.

I actually think that Maradona is not as much of a nutcase as he likes to think he is

While on the face of it, he has some very dodgy players in there (Gutierrez, Di Michaelis), what he has done differently to previous managers is try to blend a team, rather than try to squeeze in the abundance of talent that Argentina undoubtedly have.

Defensively, I don't know how they will do when up against good competition in a tournament situation. And that is the big test.

And their forward line is frightening Tevez, Aguero, Messi and Milito! Has any nation got a better set of forwards than that?
