Joe Cole is a greedy chav *word censored*!!!!!

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

I wouldn't get too excited until you see official confirmation. None of these stories seem to have a proper source from either Cole or Arsenal so perhaps we should treat them as speculation and nothing else.

Agreed. I never believe these things until they're done, or some sort of offical source has been found i.e. when Chamakh finally started talking about us towards the end of the season. Although, the persistance of these stories suggests there's something to it - same with the Schwarzer story, too! :? :?

Regarding Schwarzer...

It seems an odd signing to me. Ok, he's 37 which if fine BUT if Wenger rated him so highly, why didn't he sign him ON A FREE when he left 'boro for Fulham 2 years ago???
- after all, he'd been in the premier league for years, so was hardly an unknown. That suggests to me that 2 years ago, Wenger thought Almunia was BETTER then Schwarzer... and that scares the shit out of me! :speechless:

Seems like desperation IF we sign him :?

It would be desperation and an admittance of failure in the Wenger Project. This keeping situation has been a fiasco since the moment Jens Lehmann was dropped. I'm sure Wenger thought that Fabianski would be no.1 by now.

Unfortunately, he is clearly a no.2

Yep, one of those messy ones that suggests you have tried to mix wine, beer and kebabs.

I should add that the centre-back situation is also an indictment of Wenger's mis-management in the area of player recruitment.

Are we going to end up with

Vermaelen
?
Senderos
Djourou

See, even a question mark is ahead of Senderos...

Goonanana wrote:Based on the he's better than TR7 and theo (atthe mo at least - wishful thinker still) what;s you objection Augie? any improvement has to be good surely provided wages aren;t silly, plus nice to get an English player with a bit of skill..seen a couple of England interviews and all agree he is the most skilful in entire squad

My objection goonanana, is that right now we have 3 far far bigger priorities than buying another small light winger......we desperately need a quality keeper, a partner for TV5 and a big physical presence in midfield. People can say what a good signing it would be to get him on a free but as DB10 points out there is no such thing as a freebie cos his signing on fee and wages will be massive instead. I mean if he was to be paid 100k per week basic then that would accumulate just under 5m a season basic and not including his signing on fee and lest we all forget that money will be taken out of our transfer kitty. It is only my opinion but unless we have a 100m transfer kitty right now then personally I couldnt justify signing joe cole cos we have far bigger needs and too many similar types of players meaning he will not be bringing anything different (apart from nationality) to the table. Of course if we were to sell theo, rosicky and either nasri or arshavin then I would see it as a good signing but as things currently stand I am totally against it
augie your utterly deluded.

Well , it MUST be true , the News of the World have it in Big Bold Letters
Today . Ol' Harry Redknapp has said it ain't them and Man U don't need him so i reckon he's in the Bag .
Can only bolster a squad that needs bolstering .
Big strong mention of Scwarzer being in the bag too . Now he just needs to
shore up the middle and sort out what the plan B is without Fabregas .
Think JC is physically more imposing than either Rosicky and Theo and is
not the worse signing . Still frees us a few Bob to buy again and again ....

Last I heard on the Mark Schwarzer case was him saying he hadn't heard anything from Arsenal as yet but was flattered by any reported interest.

Didn't rule out a move.

I'd sign him for sure, he's top class, easily amongst the best 'keepers in England, if not the world.

Agree with ya there RaM , he's consistenly proved himself year in , year out
and he was a serious contributing factor to Fulham's success last year .
Think the lads are off Side with their verbals against his signing and Wengers P45 on the back of Signing a 37 year old for 4m . Personally , think the Guy is dependable , good in the air and a good Shot stopper . Not sure about his dribbling skills though !
It's no coincidence that Lehman and Seaman were a steadying
effect in Successful sides and well up to the Job and they were no spring Chickens
He would be good for Mannone and Flappy if he's going to persist with them ,
a Proven senior Keeper is a huge benefit to younger guys and Almunia was always a Second Choice in at the deep end and had not a lot to offer education wise to the younger/less experienced ones .
Buying Given at that Money was a big oversight and for me , the best Keeper in the Prem is Joe Hart but only Silly money will get him now .

Also worth mentioning that Schwarzer is an extremely fit guy. He's been reported as some kind of fanatic when it comes to keeping himself healthy.

He's actually said in the past to the press over here that he'll play as long as his body feels fine and won't rule out playing to the age of 40 and beyond. Don't think he's even ruled out playing in the World Cup in 2014...
