WERE BEING TAKEN FOR GRANTED!!!
Why has no-one mentioned the disgraceful way that the players walked off the pitch at St James Park on Monday? Only 3 players that i saw came over to thank us lot stuck up in the corner, the rest just walked off without even a look, it was bank holiday monday, shit kick off time which meant we would hit the holiday traffic trying to get back afterwards, we had outsung 48000 geordies [quietest ive ever known them by the way} and we had just watched one of the worst games ever, and the players dont feel the need to raise their hands and thank us for our support???whats all that about?? It was the same at Blackburn after being knocked out the cup, they clearly have no idea what it takes in time and money to follow the Arse about and they obviously dont really care! Yes , it was MY choice to go on Monday, I wanted to, no-one made me go, and i will always want to go hopefully, all im after is a bit of appreciation from the players, it means a lot to us fans to get that, why has no-one inside the club told them? Pat Rice must know for gods sake!! How many times do you see Fergie waving his players over to their fans after an away game making sure the players make the fans feel part of the club and letting them know their support made a difference during that match?? Its probably quite sad that a grown man like myself needs to feel some love back from a load of blokes who are younger than me, dont give a toss about me and will never know me but i do im afraid cos it makes me feel part of the club i love and makes me feel that my support DOES make a difference! I really do feel that the players need to be told by someone that they should come over to the fans win lose or draw and thank us for our support cos win lose or draw one thing is for certain, we will be there again next week!!
You're right. It is a disgrace. I don't know whether its a particulary English tradition thats been lost on our foreign contingent, or whether it has something to do with inflated salaries/ego's. But whether its Pat Rice, or a Director, someone should make it clear to them what's expected. Win, lose or draw, the acknowledgement/interaction just gives a nice feeling that there is a bond between us. Like we're all in it together.

The players didnt wave to say thanks due to that fact that they could not see you tucked up in the gods at "Sid" james's park!!! ( only joking!!!)
Seriously though, if things do not go our way we have a very petulant attitude to many things.
ie Blackburn at home in the FA cup with Fabs having a go at Sparky about the way that they played. And who went through.
The Carling sponsored "handbag" event all kicked off over a challenge when time was running out. Who won (tossers!)
I know everyone wants their team to be perfect especially the "away" fans who put their time in for the club, but when things go wrong is where we will find out our true supporters and maybe the players?
Lets keep it together while we can and lets make a difference!!!

I wrote to Arsenal a few weeks back in regards to the players hardly ever showing any appreciation to us fans after an away match. I can't find the e-mail but it went along the lines of saying that the players only have a limited time to leave the stadium in most away games, therefore don't have any time to come over and thank the travelling support. WHAT!!!!

Really?? I cant believe that they think that is a reasonable reply!!! What a load of bollox!! Its ok to go on laps of honours when you win something though yeah? How long does it actually take to lift your hands in the air and clap a few times? Were not asking them to come over talk and chat to all of us , sign autographs and have their photos taken for f**ks sake!! just raise your hands in appreciation thats all. If the club cannot see that the reply they have given you is plainly wrong then its a sad day for the club and the gap between players and fans has just got a lot wider!!

elpel, go to Arsenal.com, then to Contact Directory and click on the Press office link. That's who i sent my e-mail to, albeit about 5 times before a reply. I'd be interested to know if that's their standard response or not. Up at Villa the other week though i thought it had all changed as the players seemed to make a point of coming down to our end and thanking us for our support, and it's a nice touch when i've just gone and literally spent the last of my money getting there!!.

You're right. It's not on.
I might be way off beam here, but from the away games I've been to this season it seems that the players are happy to come over and applaud the support when they've won e.g. at Wigan and Villa, but a lot less keen when they've lost, particularly when they've lost and played poorly e.g. at Bramall Lane. In those situations I'd like to think it's because they know how bad they've been and they're worried about how they'll be received rather than not appreciating the trouble and expense we have to go to in order to see 90 minutes of dross.
Still, no excuse though.
