Diaby & Denilson

If we did not have an end of season slump, the general opinion of diaby would be a lot more positive. We needed a midfielder like him, physical , well built and with good feet movement to help us compete with chelsea and manutd.. He may not yet be arsenal quality but i would not write him off so soon. I think he replaced Cesc very well when he got injured the first time.
I would like to see him concentrate more. Seems to me he just gets... bored against certain sides.

Denilson should leave . We should pay the side that takes him off our shoulders.

diaby has shown some flashes of quality but is too inconsistent and injury prone.

I do not get what denilson is really, he cannot really play the holding role effectively and lacks the creativity and play a more attacking role.

Neither should be in the starting line up in a title challenging team.

I would accept both as squad players as long as they gave 100% whenever the they play and this i think is the biggest problem with both of them. Most of the time they look like they do not give a sh#t.

I will nevr forget the stoke fa cup game when denilson was so lack lustre in is tracking back that the ref overtook him and stoke scored!

If you are not blessed with the greatest skill or creativity then make up for it in application and effort. Most fans will overlook a few technical shortcomings with a player who plays "till it hurts" every game.

I like Diaby personally. Yeah he has stinkers commonly but so did Ronaldo his first year or 2 at Man U. He's improved a lot and has the skill/talent/body. I would like to see him start for France so he gets some more experience in big games.


Denilson. Completely opposite opinion. I think he sucks fat dick. Should never put on an Arsenal shirt again unless Fabregas, Nasri, Rosicky, Ramsey, Diaby, and Song are all out injured. They all play better CM roles better than he does.

Denilson for me isnt up to the english game and would be far more suited in spain or italy.

As for Diaby, as many have said already he does seem capable, but is just so inconsistant.

What happened to the Diaby who bossed AC Milan at the san siro?

He can be really brilliant one game and pure shite the next. Id stick with him in the squad next season, but Denilson can go.

comparing diaby with ronaldo, not sure they are in quite the same league although i agree with what you are saying in that there are plenty of quality players that are inconsistent. Diaby has been with us since 2006 so he has had 4 years to adapt to the English game, accepted of course there was a nasty injury in that period.

However, Denilson does indeed suck fat dick!

Denilson is a pub player at best and even then I doubt he'd get to start every game. By FAR the worst midfield player in Wenger's reign and probably the club's history.

Diaby you can see he's very talented, just needs to be more consistent (how long have we been saying that for now?).

denilson was one of those youth prospects that you would be sure that would develop into a wonderful player. he captained brazil in every level (except for the main team, of course) and was praised by many people here in brazil as the next big thing in brazilian midfield... but the lad couldn't live to the expectations. i still think he is better than what we make of him here, i think he is a decent squad player.
truth is that the 4-3-3 didn't suit him and he had some terrible performances this season (and also some very good ones, also scored some wonderful goals).

i'd make him more of a squad player next season, playing only in the fa cup and carling cup until he finds his game again. i don't like the fact the he is the only second choice for song.

If Denilson is your next big midfield hope, the Brazilian team's future sure looks grim doesn't it.

Nothing against the kid, but he's utterly utterly hopeless. Watching him play is painful, he's beyond shite. Doesn't have a position, no stand out qualities, can't pass forward, can't tackle, run, dribble, defend, header; is slow, weak, has no heart and no brains. True definition of a nothing player.

I cannot, for the life of me see what the senile old man sees in him.

Denilson is a bit of a plodder, Mr average, it's difficuilt for me to get annoyed with him because he does everything adequately, but thats just not good enough for a team with the aspirations we should have..if we are happy being also rans then he is just what we need..

As for Diaby, him and Walcott are for me the same, both show flashes of great potential but in general flatter to deceive, they have both had plenty of time to evolve but neither really has. Really one of them needs to go this summer we are already carrying too much 'potential'..

denilson is a real negative against the big sides,the most frustrated i have been with him was rooney's breakaway goal in the thrashing they gave us at the Emirates,when he ran back but didnt even try to follow a man,he did the same in the FA cup loss when he gave up chasing the stoke player on the break.

Neither good enough to be in starting line up, both looked promising in first seasons but have gone backwards.


Denilson - Jack of all trades master of none.

Just about can get away with being a squad player on evidence of his occasional "good" game and improved work ethic in final few games of season. Getting better at breaking up opponents play but gives ball away far too much.

Deserves one more season but if no improvement I would sell him.
Ramsey looks much better, though what will Ramsey be like after injury.


Diaby - Attacking midfielder who seldom finds the correct final ball.

Injury prone. Poor at tackling. Usually looks like a headless chicken in a 4-3-3, too many moves break down with him.

I would sell him this summer but reckon Wenger likes him as a rare physical option in a lightweight midfield.
Would like to see similar style/height player Jay Emmanuel-Thomas provide competition for him.

I think Diaby has much more chance of improvement than Denilson. Will be interesting to see how Diaby goes at the World Cup. I think he can surprise a few and come back to Arsenal ready to be a much better contributer.

radford just says simply that diaby is shit and anyone who thinks different has clearly not been watching Arsenal. the lad was good but after he got ruined at sunderland he has never been the same.

Diaby is extremely skilful. I think, in terms of close control, beating a man etc etc he could be up there with the likes of Ronaldo and Ronaldinho. However, he's also probably the world's thickest footballer. Has no knowledge of when to pass, when to shoot, when to hang on to the ball and constantly makes incorrect decisions. His insistence on hogging the ball too long slows down our attacks. He never senses danger so is often caught in posession. He plays with his head down so doesn't see when he should be passing to his team mates. His positional awareness is terrible, which is why he never really looks comfortable in any position other than as the second striker (ie, the only position where you don't rigidly have to fall into a formation).

Denilson is a tidy player, but not spectacular. The job he does is attempt to intercept passes, and lay off with a simple ball. It's a job any half decent footballer in the world will do. Denilson's problem is he is so small and slight, he makes absolutely no impact in the tackle, making it easy for other players to simply run past him. Think of him as Gilberto, but without the bite.
