ffs just read this:

Arsenal came close to signing Enyeama
Arsenal came close to sealing the signature of Hapoel Tel Aviv goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, according to the player's agent.

The 26-year-old stopper has made 47 league appearances for the Israeli outfit since joining in 2007, scoring four times from the penalty spot.

And the Nigerian international - who has 43 caps for his country - is believed to have impressed Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger during the Super Eagles' recent encounter with France.

However, Enyeama's agent Tony Martich has revealed that the glove-man's move to the Emirates Stadium broke down after Hapoel demanded €2 million for his services, with Wenger instead opting to extend the contract of Polish stopper Lukasz Fabianski.

"Vincent was very close to sealing a move to Arsenal, he had already agreed personal terms but Hapoel demanded €2 million and Arsenal pulled out," Martich told the Israeli media.

"Israeli clubs need to understand that the Ligat Ha'Al doesn't mean much to the biggest clubs in the world."

As i said in the other thread, Wenger said on french tv that he's never been interested in Enyeama.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reveals admiration for Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra

Arsene Wenger last night lit the light blue touchpaper when he revealed Madjid Bougherra as a player he rates highly.

The Rangers star is preparing for his World Cup debut on Sunday when Algeria open their campaign against Slovenia in England’s group.

Bougherra has been linked with a host of clubs for a summer exit from Ibrox, but has maintained he only wants to move to one of the top six or seven sides in the English Premier League.

Now Wenger, who saw Philippe Senderos depart the Emirates for Fulham this week and has Sol Campbell out of contract, has said: ‘There are some good individuals in the Algeria team and I think they will get through the group with England,’ said the Arsenal boss, who is at the World Cup as a TV pundit.

‘I know the youngster Ryad Boudebouz, who is a very good player. There is also Madjid Bougherra who plays at Rangers — I rate him too.’

Spanish club Malaga were the latest to be linked with a £4million bid for Bougherra, with Galatasaray interested, too.

Former Rangers striker Nacho Novo, who has joined Sporting Gijon, thinks the 27-year-old would revel in Spain’s Primera Liga.

Novo said: ‘Madjid would be a great signing for Malaga. He’s a good player and a really good guy, as well.

‘For a centre-back, he has great technique and he is fast, too, which you need to be in Spain. He doesn’t look like it but, once he gets going, he’s electric. The truth is, he’s got it all — the full package.’

Meanwhile, reports that CSKA Moscow have joined the queue of clubs desperate to sign free agent Kris Boyd were rubbished by his agent last night.

Turkish club Kayserispor, managed by Shota Arveladze, have signalled their intention to snatch the out-of-contract striker by offering a mammoth £50,000-a-week deal. Birmingham City, Middlesbrough and Newcastle are also interested in the free-scoring striker.

++++

Hope the rumours about Bougherra are true, he's a brute of a centre half and can also play good football.

Messi. We're gonna sign Messi. And Kaka. And Xavi.

About as much chance of that as most of the bollocks on this thread!

Keep an eye out for Van der Wiel

Image

22yr old Holland Right back, plays for Ajax and has been linked with us since last summer.
From what I know he is better going forward and can score.
"Of course it's nice to read that Arsenal are interested," he said.

"I consider myself a good fit for the Premier League.

"Robin van Persie has told me many stories about the Premier League, Arsenal and Mr (Arsene) Wenger. Maybe he can put in a good word for me."

Van der Wiel also claims to have been made aware of interest from Spain, with the Primera Liga's big two ready to slug it out for his signature.

The Holland international added: "I know that Barcelona and Real (Madrid) are interested, but now I am only thinking about doing well at the World Cup in South Africa."

after watching germany play at the world cup id like to see arsene wenger go back in for mesut oezil. he really looked the goods against australia and would really be a massive asset to our club and if fabregas does eventually go he would be a more then adequate replacement. id like to also see manuel nueur come in as he was very solid and looked commanding between the posts for germany. i know we are supposed to be in the hunt for laurent koscielny the centre back from lorient but he seems to be a project player, i do hope he turns out like vermaelin (spelling) though. id like to see wenger go for simon kjaer from palermo as i think he would start straight away but if we couldnt get him then phillepe mexes from roma, if man city can offer $15 million for him i cant see why wenger wouldnt see that as a shrewd buy as he is a class defender and spend the money on him. if emmanuel eboue is to leave as is rumoured then the money should be used to grab gregory van der weil from ajax as he is what eboue isnt a out and out defender and a very good one at that. if we can get joe cole on a free then why not! i read on here so often people whining about having no depth to our squad and he would certainlly give us that along with the above mentioned players. id only like to see eboue, eduardo, silvestre and diaby go with gallas set to leave i wouldnt want any more to leave as it wouldnt exactly add to the squad or give us more depth shedding as many as we buy also in a perfect world a out and out winger preferably left footed would be great i like diego capel from sevilla we could get him i believe for around $12-$15 million and could really be a star in our squad.
