Sp*rs fans show example to Emirates day-Trippers

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Sp*rs fans show example to Emirates day-Trippers

Post by proudtosaythatname »

Much as I hate saying anything positive about that lot, the way the SHL crowd got behind their mob of moderates almost produced a miraculous turnaround. Even the commentator suggested 'they might as well go home' after 10 minutes - let's face it, they were in a far worse position, needing 4 goals against the UEFA Cup Holders, than we were against cr*p PSV needing 2 in 10. But their supporters really drove the team on and they nearly made it - though thank goodness, they didn't! However, it really showed up those 'so called' Arsenal 'supporters' who left the PSV game early. We'll never know - at probably it wouldn't have happened - but if our fans had stayed we might, just might have been playing Liverpool earlier this week - and things Arsenal generally might have been very much different?

Whilst I agree our support could be more vocal lets be serious - whether we had sung until our voice box gave in we wouldn't have come back against PSV.

There should be two 'singing sections' at either end of the ground for a start, it would also be useful if the current 'singing section' learnt a few more bloody chants and also if they sang the same ones together to start with!

'Stand up if you hate Tottenham' is a fcuking shite chant - rubbish, we know we hate the Spuds, we know they are shite but it's hardly getting behind the team is it?

Where are the chants for the players? - the new players songs are pretty unimaginative and others have none at all.

Whenever you travel with Arsenal all the old chants come out, being in the boozer before the game can also be the same - why the ground doesn't mirror that is anybodies guess.

But please don't compare us to the morons up the road - they are a bunch of chavvy arseholes, they got behind their underachieving set of wankers because they were so knackered in the tie it was either sing up or go home and most chose to sing and try and salvage some enjoyment from their £60 ticket or whatever they charge.

Support boils down to the same thing ultimately tho - success, and that has been rather thin on the ground of late (but thats another discussion point).

Did they stay until the end when we beat them 3-1 in the Carling Cup semi final.....? Er, no....!

And there is a world of difference between the position they were in against Seville, where they had clawed their way back into it, and the position we were in against PSV, where we suffered a very late mugging.

I can kind of understand how the frustration of that particular night might have led to a knee jerk reaction of walking out. Although I'm proud to say that we were still there at the final whistle as we always are!

proudtosaythatname did you not notice how many empty seats there were by about 87 minutes last night? That's no different to us against PSV.
Also, I think spurs' position after ten minutes last night was better than our's against PSV. I'd much rather have 80 minutes to score 4, than 5 or 6 minutes to score 2. Especially considering the amount of goals the spuds have been scoring recently.

Oh well, Man U / Chelsea glory this year will not be stopped so I have accepted it. I couldn't have taken it if spurs won something though. Seeing them lose last night has really brightened up this horrible season.

Rilo - I'm still holding out for Milan to win the CL and (slightly less likely)Blackburn/Watford to win the Cup even if the Plastic Mancs or Chavski have to win the League.

If I get the chance to sing "where's your treble gone?" to some Manc Scum, then the season won't be total write-off, 'cause I'm sure the smug bastards are expecting a repeat of 99. Mind, that's some indication of how bad things have been.

As much as I would love to see Milan and Watford triumph, I have very little confidence in it happening. I see Man Utd league and champs league (beating the scousers in the final) and Chelski for the FA cup (beating the mancs in the final).
I have accepted and come to terms with that happening, so the Spuds failing in europe (especially after being so cocky of getting so far, despite it being with the aid of a bye) was the one I was terrified of.

write off the rossoneri at your peril. they were bloody brilliant tactically on weds night. my 3 wishes for the remainder of the season...

1. afc finish top 4
2. blackburn prevent a manure - chavski fa cup final (at least i could then back one of the teams on the day)
3. milan to win the cl

would also like to prevent chavski winning prem at the grove, but that would just be plain greedy - would settle for above 3 right now.

All due respect Ed, but I think the Chav$ winning the league at the E******S (during the stadium's inaugral year) would be the worst possible end to our season, and would jinx the place forever...
:(
I would put us stopping that happen as number one and, fcuk the loss - be greedy, hope for the other three also!! 8)

Great result last night BTW - football was the winner!

Gutted to say this but the atmosphere sounded pretty good at the hole last night. C'Mon gooners lets give the Bolton bully boys a hostile reception on Saturday and get right behind the boys.
