Official World Cup Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

When he was at Lyon I was all for Le Guen being Wenger’s successor.  Thought we should bring him as a coach & groom him to take over. Then he went to Rangers & he seems to have been a crap manager ever since. :? And the moral of the story is Glasgow is a shithole.

I still reckon denmark will overcome Japan and Cameroon, qualifying for the next round.

Most of the football’s been abysmal. Still reckon the ball’s playing it’s part in that, alongside the negative tactics etc. The wanky pundits keep talking about whether or not it swerves in the air (it doesn’t) but that’s not the issue with it. Every game I’ve seen so far there’s been about 5x as many overhit passes as you’d usually see & countless shots ballooned well over the bar. The ball bounces about a mile in the air & seems to speed up once it hits the turf, so any crossfield pass or ball into the channel just runs away from the player half the time.
Yeah, the ball is odd. Played with it last week, is too light, and bounces up a bit high too.

Group stages in World Cup seldom get good until final game in the group stage, then tournament gets going in knock out stages.

What I don't understand is how come the Bundeliga got permission to use that ball throughout last season and yet everyone else has to get used to it in just a handful of games....?? Surely Adidas had to make it available to everyone?

Arsene wenger seems to have a lot of choices to choose from, the goalkeeping has been horrendous in these 10 games
