Official World Cup Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Group stages in World Cup seldom get good until final game in the group stage, then tournament gets going in knock out stages.
What I don't understand is how come the Bundeliga got permission to use that ball throughout last season and yet everyone else has to get used to it in just a handful of games....?? Surely Adidas had to make it available to everyone?
apparently the fa were offered the oppo to use the ball but declined  a few other countries as well as ze germens have been using it but it changes with altitude also

We haven't had the full first round of games yet though. I think a lot of teams have been over cautious as they are so worried about losing the first game. I think the second round of matches will be better once people are more settled and have a better idea of the conditions etc..

The use of the ball was to do with being tied into contracts.

Like Wembley, its more important to squeeze every penny out of it, and forget the purpose of it all.

Are you talking about that Elliot bloke?

He's not with a club right now, we could get him on a free!

Looking promising for New Zealand, hopefully the sheep shaggers can grab a goal in the second half to win it!

New Zealand equalised in the last minute of added time against Slovakia.

Their first ever point at a World Cup.
