It's possible for a white couple to have a black baby.

If there are black genes in the family line. Even many generations ago.

I've actually met a black girl whose parents were white. When she was born, her father assumed, as you would, that the mrs had been at it.

They traced their ancestors back. Bingo. Great-great grandparent was mixed race.
